The Padron family developed the Serie 1926 cigar in commemoration of the family’s patriarch, Jose Orlando Padron`s 75th Birthday. (Jose was born in Cuba in 1926.) The cigar debuted in 2002 on Jose’s 76th birthday, one year later than planned. As with all things Padron, their cigars cannot be rushed. The Nicaraguan tobaccos used in the Padron Serie 1926 have been aged for a minimum of five long years. The 1926 Padron is a great, full-bodied, with the aroma of well-aged, mature tobacco right out of the box. It’s a complex smoke with perfect balance, showing flavors of chocolate, coffee, nuts, and a hint of black cherry. The cigar has a finish so long it seems to never leave the palate.
The Padron Serie 1926 scored one of the highest ratings in the history of Cigar Aficionado of 96 rating which is an amazing feat for a recent-production cigar.

My favorite natural from the 1926 anniversary series. As you’d expect from Padron, this gem has great construction and craftsmanship; good, even burn, that has never required a touch up from me. Notes of caramel, vanilla bean, and earth; rich and luxurious smoke, and is a perfect pairing with morning coffee or a single malt scotch. If you are thinking about buying this, you’d better be quick, because as soon as Oxford gets a box in stock, I’ll be buying!

Perfect draw, tons of smoke. The first third brings out a great deal of flavor that transitions into a full, complex range of flavors—spice, mustiness and chocolate.

Padron 1926 Anniversary No. 2 Belicoso Natural, The smoke starts with fresh cracked black pepper and peat moss. It transitions to orange peel finish. Definitely complex full range of flavor of woodiness with a sweet finish. Considering the age, I would have thought it to be more mellow but there was a slight rough on the edge on the draw throughout the cigar.

Worth the price. The cigar brings out a great deal of smoke that transitions into a chock full of complex range of flavors—spice, mustiness and chocolate; all the while remaining elegant and smooth.
