La Mission by L’Atelier Import cigars, of which Pete Johnson of Tatuaje is a partner, is a cigar inspired by a Bordeaux winery called Chateau La Mission. The cigar is wrapped in a Mexican San Andres leaf with Nicaraguan binder and fillers, including Sancti Spiritus leaf. The cigar is made in Nicaragua by My Father Cigars. The date 1959 corresponds to the year that Chateau La Mission winery received a 100-point rating from Robert Parker. Flavor notes consist of intense spice and then recede a bit to the background, making way for a bold but balanced smoking experience that is one of contrasts and counterbalance. For every sweet note of caramel, there’s a matching note of salt. Rated 96 points and No. 4 Cigar of 2020 by Cigar Aficionado Magazine.
