Detailed Description
This classic lonsdale, measuring 6 3/4 x 44, highlights the blending artistry at Chateau de la Fuente. Each cigar is constructed with a focus on harmony, featuring a blend of Dominican-grown tobaccos that are aged to bring out nuance without overwhelming the palate. The natural wrapper is selected for its fine texture and slight sheen, delivering a creamy opening alongside gentle nuts and a hint of citrus. As the cigar progresses, layers of cedar and hay come into play, followed by a sophisticated build toward earth and mild spice in the last third.
Characteristic of Fuente workmanship, the draw is reliably open yet resistant enough to promote steady combustion and even ash development. Many will note subtle scent changes as the cigar is smoked, with extra complexity found in the retrohale—think floral hints overlying cedar and faint spice. Rather than brute strength, the Seleccion Privada No. 1 prizes balance and finesse, making it suitable for both everyday enjoyment and contemplative late-night sessions. The cigar’s long, slim dimensions make it especially attractive to those who appreciate the control and flavor focus provided by the lonsdale format.
Proudly produced in the Dominican Republic, the cigar remains a pillar in the Arturo Fuente portfolio, celebrated for offering “old Havana elegance” with modern reliability. Its approachable yet rewarding smoking experience ensures it enjoys a prominent spot in humidors worldwide, whether for casual afternoons or special milestone moments.

A good, basic cigar to while away an afternoon. Starts with a light wood and nut profile that gradually becomes stronger and more earthy in the last third. Smoking time about 90 minutes.

Love the vitola, and it burned perfectly, but I find the core Fuente lines are just a bit dirty and dull tasting. Not an offensive cigar b any means, and if this earthy, musty, light pepper profile is one you love, then this is a great choice. The price from oxford is fantastic as always. It’s a bit of a kick around cigar for me, something to smoke that doesn’t require my attention.

This is for the one who likes a cross between a churchill and a lancero. The 44 ring size sit right in between and the taste is more focused than the classic 858 due to less filler tobaccos.

Solid offering. I’ve had the Maduro version of this and liked that better. This cigar provided plenty of flavor, cedar, citrus and hay. The construction on this was spot on. It smoke’s wonderfully. The last third I felt was the best part of the cigar. Where the flavors intensified but didn’t want to wait that long for those flavors. Love a good lonsdale. This was a good cigar but not great. Definitely glad I tried the natural version from Oxford!
