Flavor Evolution
The No. 40 Natural opens with waves of oak and espresso that establish the blend’s bold character from first light. As the cigar develops, chocolate-covered cherries emerge alongside the coffee foundation, creating layers of complementary richness. The middle section introduces campfire s’mores nuances with toasted marshmallow sweetness balanced by nuts and caramel macchiato notes. Throughout, the extended aging manifests as velvety texture that enhances mouthfeel, making each draw smooth and luxurious despite the full-bodied strength.
The finish brings all elements together in harmonious conclusion that lingers and evolves long after the final puff. Each third reveals new dimensions while maintaining the core characteristics that define the 1926 series. The box-press format enhances the experience through even burn and consistent ash formation, while the generous dimensions provide space for flavors to develop gradually rather than rushing through transitions. This measured evolution rewards slow, contemplative smoking where patience yields maximum enjoyment.
Construction Perfection
Padron’s legendary quality control reaches its apex in the 1926 Anniversary series. The No. 40 Natural features razor-sharp burn lines requiring minimal correction, effortless draw that delivers clouds of generous smoke volume, and ash that holds solid sections before releasing cleanly. The box-press format enhances these characteristics while providing visual distinction and comfortable hand feel during extended sessions. Reviewers consistently describe this cigar as a “finger-burner,” noting the reluctance to put it down even as it reaches its conclusion—the ultimate compliment for construction and flavor excellence.
Heritage & Patience
The decision to delay the No. 40 Natural’s release by one year exemplifies the Padron family’s commitment to quality over deadlines. Rather than rush to market for Jose Orlando Padron’s 75th birthday, the family waited until his 76th to ensure every cigar met their exacting standards. This patient approach mirrors the five-year aging process itself, demonstrating that true excellence cannot be hurried. The result is a cigar worthy of the Padron name and the milestone it celebrates, representing five generations of tobacco expertise refined to perfection.

The construction, burn and performance of the Padron 1926 Anniversary No. 40 Natural is absolutely tip top. A bit of a step up, in this humble reviewers opinion, from most of their natural offerings in the Padron 1926 line, with deep flavors, incredible complexity and depth…this amplifier goes to 11! Scents of my wife’s caramel macchiato (I don’t drink those things, I swear) with hints of campfire roasted s’more.

Such a deep well of flavor. Oak, chocolate covered cherries, espresso, it just goes on and on. This is an absolute finger burner, and worth every penny.
