Hoyo de Monterrey Cigars

Hoyo de Monterrey is one of the oldest and most storied names in cigar history, originally founded in 1865 by Spanish immigrant Don José Gener y Batet in Cuba’s Vuelta Abajo valley—named after the concave “hole of Monterrey” terrain of his legendary tobacco farm. The non-Cuban version, produced in Honduras since 1965 under General Cigar Company (now Scandinavian Tobacco Group), spans a wide portfolio including the flagship Hoyo de Monterrey core line, the classic Excalibur series, the Hoyo de Tradición, and the AJ Fernandez-blended Hoyo La Amistad—built from Nicaraguan, Honduran, and Dominican long-fillers under Ecuadorian Sumatra, Connecticut Shade, and Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrappers—delivering mild to full-bodied profiles of cedar, leather, cashew, sweet cream, dark chocolate, and peppery spice that have made it a benchmark Honduran cigar for over half a century.
