Partagás Cigars
Partagás is one of the oldest and most prestigious cigar brands in history, founded in 1845 in Havana, Cuba, by Spanish immigrant Don Jaime Partagás y Ravelo, a visionary blender and fermentation pioneer who purchased prime tobacco plantations across the Vuelta Abajo region and is credited with introducing the tradition of the lector—a reader who entertained torcedores during cigar rolling. After the Cuban Revolution nationalized the cigar industry, the legendary Ramón Cifuentes Toriello emigrated to the United States and partnered with General Cigar Company to relaunch Partagás for the American market in 1978, moving production to a modern factory in Santiago, Dominican Republic, where the brand is still handcrafted today under Scandinavian Tobacco Group. The iconic Partagás lineup includes the Partagás Original featuring a genuine African Cameroon wrapper over a spicy Mexican San Andrés binder with Dominican long fillers delivering classic notes of leather, citrus pepper, and fragrant oak; the Partagás 1845 Clasico with a bold Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, Connecticut Broadleaf binder, and Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers for a rich, creamy smoke with notes of toast and nuts; the Partagás 1845 Extra Oscuro dressed in a dark Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper; the Partagás Black Label in a sun-grown Broadleaf Maduro wrapper for a full-bodied, earthy experience; and the Partagás 1845 Extra Fuerte for those seeking maximum strength and complexity. From its mild-to-medium Cameroon-wrapped classics to its full-bodied Broadleaf powerhouses, Partagás cigars offer nearly two centuries of unbroken cigar-making heritage and remain among the best-selling premium cigars in the United States.
