Casdagli Brothers of the Sabre Forrader
The Forrader is the bold counterpart in Casdagli’s Brothers of the Sabre series, crafted at Kelner Boutique Factory to honor the audacity of General Blücher (“General Forwards”). This blend pushes boundaries with rare Zimbabwean tobacco—a leaf almost never seen in premium cigars—paired with Dominican and USA filler, Dominican binder, and a silky Ecuadorian wrapper. Smokers will find pronounced espresso and exotic spice flavors, balanced by earthy chocolate, floral notes, and woody undertones that create a complex, full-flavored experience. This release is strictly limited, with meticulous construction and rare leaf blending elevating its status among collectors.
- Rare filler: Zimbabwean, Dominican, and USA tobaccos for bold, spicy, and smoky complexity
- Wrapper: Ecuadorian delivers refined texture and depth, accentuating the blend’s robust character
- Binder: Dominican supports even burn and structural integrity
- Flavor journey: Espresso, earthy chocolate, floral spice, cedar, oak, and a lingering semi-sweet finish
- Body: Medium-full—bolder than the Brave, demanding undivided attention
- Expert construction: Flawless draw, consistent performance, and collector-grade quality
- Series significance: Pays tribute to historical valor and innovative tobacco blending in the Brothers of the Sabre line
Lighting up the Forrader brings immediate espresso, exotic spice, and smokiness from the Zimbabwean filler, which evolves into cedar, floral notes, chocolate, and a semi-sweet finish akin to chocolate chips in cookies. Some note a distinct smoky nuance unique to the Zimbabwean leaf, setting it apart from other blends in both flavor and experience. Best enjoyed alone or with minimal distractions, as the blend’s boldness tends to overshadow most drink pairings. Construction and burn are universally lauded, matching the high standards of the KBF factory and Casdagli’s reputation for small-batch perfection.

Much as its namesake was known to be, this cigar takes the lead and is absolutely all about demanding your attention – I would recommend a good mineral water (effervescent or non) with this and not anything else, as it very much has a wealth and diversity of flavours that I think would not really pair particularly well with anything – I am partial to coffee with my cigars, and I would not want to detract from this singular experience with my coffee!
Big espresso notes (hence no need for coffee), exotic spice (I presume this is the Zimbabwean tobacco), wood (cedar or oak), and a semi-sweet finish that I would most closely compare to semi-sweet chocolate chips that one might put into a home-made cookie. This is a very enjoyable cigar, and another fine addition to Casdagli’s portfolio.
Rated four out of five stars as while I believe this is excellent, it’s so demanding that I don’t feel it has the versatility to stand up to a cup of tea or coffee or anything else – it needs focus, no conversation with friends, and attentiveness. In the right place and time, it’s a five star cigar; I think for what most people do (sharing with friends alongside some kind of beverage) it’s so bold in its flavour (though not strength) that it will be almost distracting! A personal rating this is; I won’t disagree if others find it rates five stars.

After smoking both the Brave and Forrader blends, I can confidently say that both are very very high quality sticks. This Forrader is a bit bolder with more notes of cedar and red pepper (especially on the retrohale). The Brave is a bit more nuanced and has more of a baking spice on the retrohale.
I don’t think you can go wrong with either, but if you like bolder smokes, this Forrader is more in your wheelhouse. I personally lean slightly towards the Brave since I lean on the lighter/subtle side of the spectrum but both are great blends

Fantastic cigar. Perfect medium full strength through, perfect blend of spicy, savory, and sweet. The construction was great, draw, burn, etc. I was really considering grabbing a box, I liked it that much, and then Oxford sent me one for renewing my membership. You guys absolutely rock, couldn’t be happier.

This brothers of the Sabre forrador in the piramide size is a 10/10. My personal favorite casdagli blend in a sweet vitola. Flavor and nicotine strength reach a medium+ by the end of the smoke. Lots of espresso, wood, and a little spiciness (not too peppery though).

Everything I am getting from Casdagli is just amazing, both the Costarrican and Dominican stuff. This cigar has bold flavors, not what you are expecting for a Dominican cigar. With some age, this cigar will be perfect but if you like full-body cigars go and buy some and smoke them right away.

Great cigar, no surprise. Construction and draw were both on point. I got coffee and a distinct floral note from this stick that I enjoyed. Glad Oxford sent me a box with my renewal.

The rare Zimbabwean tobacco certainly adds a unique smoky taste to the cigar. I can’t say it is to my liking, but the profile is different to everything else on the market. This cigar is quite strong, and its strength only grows as you progress. I will say it is a better smoke than the Brave line.

This cigar of the two new releases from the Brothers of the Sabre is more my speed. There was more complexity and stronger flavor notes of earthy chocolate and Ristretto (stronger espresso shot). Absolutely loved it. To say the least, I was extremely excited when I got a box full f Forrader as the Oxford Premiere Renewal Welcome package!!!

This new release is, yet again, another wonderful offering from Casdagli. I’m finding their latest offerings to be more towards the medium – full end of the boldness spectrum, and I like that. A little spice, a little sweet and a whole lot of nuanced complexity. Epic smoke, better when you can sit and focus on the flavours.
