Detailed Description
The story of the Chogüí Dos 77 Rogusto Extra is one of innovation and a return to roots. Victor Nicolas rebuilt the blend with a Dominican sun-grown Corojo wrapper and two new varietals in the filler—including the rare and sought-after Medio Tiempo, known for imparting bold richness and depth. This combination gives the Dos 77 a flavor journey that’s as captivating as its limited availability.
Light up and expect a first act of spicy, peppery zing—cayenne, black pepper, and mesquite, underscored by subtle sweetness and root beer barrel candy. As the cigar progresses, baking spice, wood, and a balanced, medium-to-full body take center stage. The Dos 77 delivers a slow, even burn, with ample smoke output and evolving complexity throughout the experience.
Aficionados praise its complexity, construction, and ability to match bold meals or celebrate special occasions. The addition of Piloto Mejorado (Medio Tiempo) amplifies intensity without overpowering, creating a well-balanced cigar for both special moments and daily indulgence.

Plenty of spice and complexity. The construction was good, slightly loose draw and two touch ups needed. The flavors included mesquite wood, baking spices, cayenne and black pepper, and root beer barrel candies. I’d smoke it again!

This cigar started off with the spicy notes that you would get from a sun-grown corona wrapper. I noticed that it moved from a meduim to a full body fast. That must be from the Medio Tiempo priming in the filler. The cigar has ample intense tasting note and complexity. If they had some of the leaves in the filler that had lower primings making it a medium plus, I would reach for this cigar more option. This cigar would go great after a heavy meal.

Honestly, this is the first cigar I’ve reviewed that I wanted to smoke 4 of. It was that good. The Dos77 has lived up to the hype that surrounds what Chogüi Cigars puts out. My concern going into this review was the Piloto Mejorado (Medio Tiempo) leaf. I know that aficionados and enthusiasts go crazy for the rare leaf. In my experience, however, the Medio Tiempo can overwhelm the blend and up its intensity. That wasn’t the case with the Dos77. The intensity was firmly a medium throughout the cigar experience. The Chogüi Cigars Dos77 is a cigar you must try before the cigar is gone!
