For the first time since 2020, and for only the sixth time since 2012, Crowned Heads will be releasing the popular limited release extension to its Four Kicks brand, Mule Kick.
The original Four Kicks Mule Kick (2012) featured a Habano wrapper that was deemed too dark for the regular production Four Kicks brand and a slightly altered binder filler combination. Released in November of 2012, the original Mule Kick production was limited to 500 (10-count) boxes. That same blend would be re-released
again in 2017. From 2018 to 2020, the Mule Kick blend would appear annually, each year with a different wrapper leaf (CT Habano, Ecuadorian Sumatra, and Nicaraguan Jalapa, respectively).
For the first time in the brand’s history, the 2022 Mule Kick blend will feature a Mexican (San Andres) Oscuro wrapper, while the binder-filler tobaccos will remain the same as the previous year’s releases. The 2022 Mule Kick is impeccably balanced with great structure and exhibits a uniquely smokey-spicy-sweet flavor profile.
Total production of Four Kicks Mule Kick LE 2022 will be limited to 4,000 (10-count) boxes. Manufactured at Tabacalera La Alianza, S.A. (Santiago, Dominican Republic), under the supervision of Cigar Aficionado Hall of Fame member, Ernesto Perez-Carrillo.

The Four Kicks LE 2022 is intense. For those of you that are leather-tougued, have not tried this one – try it. You might like it. I could not smoke it to the band. Just too full body for me. The strength (nicotine) is fine, it is just the flavor notes are face-slapping strong.

BEST CIGAR OF THE YEAR?
That’s a tough call only six months into the year, but the Four Kicks Mule Kick 2022 from Crowned Heads is certainly making a strong case as my early frontrunner. Obviously, we don’t do CotY awards here, but if we did this is in the top 2. The notes of chocolate, earth, pepper, baking spices, nuts, caramel, citrus, floral, wood, and vegetal mesh together so well. They weave in and out adding complexity and nuance where these normally overpowering flavors seem almost delicate. The smoke is creamy and smooth. The construction? Just wow. When it can stand up to wind gusts and sustained breezes easily…well, there aren’t many cigars that can do that. If you can find a box of Crowned Heads Four Kicks Mule Kick 2022, do yourself a favor and buy it!
