Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Maduro compare to the regular Buenaventura?
Expect a richer, darker flavor set (cocoa, molasses, espresso) while retaining the line’s balance and smoothness.
What’s the ideal time of day?
Afternoon to evening. It’s satisfying after meals but remains approachable for a relaxed daytime session.
Is it peppery?
Mild to moderate pepper, more noticeable on the retrohale; it supports rather than dominates the profile.
Does it require touch‑ups?
Construction is typically reliable with an even burn and good ash integrity; occasional touch‑ups are rare.
What pacing works best?
A slow, steady cadence keeps the smoke cool, accentuates sweetness, and prevents bittering late.

Curivari is a sleeper brand that I think most people sleep on – their original Buenaventura line is one of my all-time favorite budget smokes for sure. That being said, I got curious with the latest of the 3 – blue, red, and yellow bands. The maduro (blue) definitely has the traditional maduro notes – dark chocolate, leather, molasses – but not quite matured. Maybe worth trying it again in a few months.

This is the third of the trio recently dropped by Curivari. The Maduro Favoritos is a good looking smoke… dark brown wrapper. The cigar is well constructed and burned ok. The flavors of this were sharper than I would have preferred. Leather, and some spice, but just seemed unbalanced. The price point is there to give it a try, but if the three released in the lineup, this is the least favorite of mine. If you like Maduro cigars, give it a try, but it’s probably best to let them sit for a bit before trying. The other two are definitely something I’d smoke right now.
