Detailed Description
La Madrina Shade opens classically—touches of white pepper, Nicaraguan earth, and mellow cream. As smoke builds, strength rises to a vibrant medium, delivering notes of graham cracker crust, tart dough, floral vanilla, and zesty citrus. The Mexican binder brings unexpected depth, with hints of almond, mulled wine spice, candied nuts, and sweet hay. In the second half, a subtle red pepper lifts the profile alongside woody tannins and salted almond, while caramelized sugar and creamed bread give a gentle, long finish. Retrohale is tingly yet balanced, amplifying the cigar’s aromatic charm. It’s a Connecticut you’ll remember—structured and lively, never flat or overpowering.
Each cigar comes impeccably rolled, with consistent construction praised in reviews. Ideal for morning rituals, lunch breaks, or pairing with spiked sun tea, coffee, or sparkling white wine. Whether you’re new to boutique smokes or a seasoned explorer tired of basic shade blends, La Madrina Shade proves Dapper’s commitment to creative, crowd-pleasing craftsmanship.

I really enjoyed this cigar, which has body and heft for a natural shade wrapper. Super smooth, creamy and light spice made for a very satisfying smoke!

I wasn’t terribly impressed by this Cigar however being a Connecticut shade there probably wasn’t a lot to look for to begin with. Creamy, smooth texture with sweetness and nice draw. About all you could ask for

Very enjoyable Connecticut. Solid flavors all around. Cedar, cream, bread and hay. Construction was ok on this. This was my first cigar from dapper. I felt the cigar was priced right for what I was getting. Not a ton of transitions but just overall what I expected from a standard Connecticut wrapped cigar.

good not great. it’s a very smooth smoke with creamy and slight milk chocolate notes from the MSA binder. Construction and draw were good for the one I had. flavors were a bit muted which is to be expected with a shade wrapper, but i’ve had some other shade wrapper smokes recently that had more flavor.

Started off really solid. Notes of butter, cream and a bit of white pepper. After about an inch, I got a ton of what I can only describe as a mineral or metallic note. Stuck around for the entirety of the smoke. Wish the initial light up flavors would have stuck around.

This is a good Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade smoke. This cigar has notes of wet hay or a strong green tea, cream and some slight vegetal flavor. I am sure if I paid more attention to it, I would have gotten more flavor notes out of it. I didn’t get any transition and the profile didn’t change. Thee cigar was enjoyable but I was not too excited about it. It has the classic white pepper bite for a Connecticut wrapper The Dapper La Madrina Natural is amazing and blows the Shade blend away. I would go for the Dapper La Madrina Natural over the shade any day. Regarding the construction, there was a good burn and draw was on point.

I really like this smoke. Great mix of baker spices and cream. The construction was a little spotty, but I still was able to enjoy it.
