Ferio Tego Timeless Supreme
Ferio Tego Timeless Supreme is a box-pressed Nicaraguan puro that continues the legacy of the acclaimed Nat Sherman Timeless Nicaraguan, originally launched in 2012. Handmade at the Plasencia Cigars factory in Esteli, this full-bodied blend draws from all four renowned Nicaraguan growing regions, including Jalapa, Esteli, Condega, and Ometepe, to create a cigar that delivers exceptional complexity and depth. When Ferio Tego acquired the Timeless Collection from Nat Sherman International in 2021, founders Michael Herklots and Brendon Scott preserved the original blend that earned 92 points and a Top 25 ranking from Cigar Aficionado in 2015.
- Nicaraguan puro using wrapper, binder, and filler tobaccos sourced from Jalapa, Esteli, Condega, and Ometepe for multi-regional complexity.

- Handmade at the Plasencia Cigars factory in Nicaragua, ensuring top-tier construction and consistency across every cigar.
- Heritage blend that preserves the original Nat Sherman Timeless Nicaraguan recipe under the Ferio Tego banner.
The Timeless Collection holds significant importance in both Nat Sherman and Ferio Tego’s history. The brand debuted in January 2012 with the Timeless Dominican, and the Nicaraguan version quickly became one of the most celebrated cigars in the portfolio. When Nat Sherman International ceased operations, Michael Herklots, the former VP, and Brendon Scott, the former CFO, founded Ferio Tego to preserve these legacy brands and continue their development. The company name comes from the Herklots family motto, meaning “Strike and Defend,” symbolized by Hercules striking a Hydra on the family coat of arms. Ferio Tego was named 2021 Brand of the Year by Cigar Dojo and New Company of the Year by Halfwheel, validating the quality and vision behind the venture.
The Plasencia family’s involvement in production ensures exceptional quality. The Plasencias have grown and processed tobacco in Central America for five generations, and their Esteli factory produces some of the most respected cigars in the industry. For the Timeless Supreme, they draw tobaccos from all four major Nicaraguan growing regions, each contributing distinct characteristics. Jalapa provides smoothness and sweetness, Esteli delivers bold pepper and earth, Condega adds complexity and balance, and Ometepe contributes unique volcanic soil-influenced flavors. Combining these regions in one blend creates the kind of depth that single-region puros cannot achieve.
The dark, savory maduro wrapper displays a chocolatey, reddish brown color with visible veins and subtle oiliness. Construction is consistently excellent, with smooth draw, dense smoke production, and steady burn characteristics that reflect the Plasencia factory’s expertise. The box pressed format concentrates the tobacco and creates a slightly different airflow than round cigars, which many smokers find delivers more focused, intensified flavors. The squared edges also make the cigar easier to rest in an ashtray and more comfortable to hold during extended sessions.
In the smoking experience, the Timeless Supreme opens with more than a hint of pepper but not an overwhelming blast, accompanied by nutty, woody, and citrus notes. The first third develops sweet, creamy coffee and cocoa, followed by spicy pepper and citrus with an underlying nuttiness that forms the foundation. As the cigar progresses, flavors transition through leather, sourdough bread, sweet maple, and fragrant cedar, all overlayed with creamy vanilla complexity. The retrohale carries wood, nuttiness, and peppery spice that intensifies the experience. This progression creates what Cigar Aficionado described as “rich notes of toast, cocoa powder, toasted marshmallow, and toffee brought together by a big nutty finish.”
Strength builds from medium full in the opening to full by the final third, with body following a similar progression for a robust, challenging smoke that rewards attention and controlled puffing. The Timeless Supreme performs best when given time to settle after shipping and smoked at a relaxed cadence that allows the flavors to develop fully without overheating.

What is the connection to Nat Sherman?
The Timeless Supreme was originally released in 2012 as the Nat Sherman Timeless Nicaraguan. When Nat Sherman International ceased operations, former VP Michael Herklots and former CFO Brendon Scott founded Ferio Tego in 2021 and acquired the Timeless Collection, Metropolitan Selection, and Epoca brands. The blend remains unchanged from the original that earned 92 points and a Top 25 ranking from Cigar Aficionado in 2015.
What makes this a Nicaraguan puro?
A puro uses tobacco from a single country for wrapper, binder, and filler. The Timeless Supreme sources all components from Nicaragua, drawing from Jalapa, Esteli, Condega, and Ometepe growing regions. Each region contributes distinct characteristics, with Jalapa providing smoothness, Esteli delivering pepper and earth, Condega adding balance, and Ometepe contributing volcanic soil-influenced complexity.
What flavors should I expect?
The cigar opens with pepper, nutty wood, and citrus, transitioning to sweet, creamy coffee and cocoa in the first third. The middle brings leather, sourdough bread, and toasted nuts, while the final third develops cedar, maple, and vanilla cream. Retrohale shows wood, nuttiness, and peppery spice throughout. Cigar Aficionado noted toast, cocoa powder, toasted marshmallow, and toffee with a big nutty finish.
Is the Timeless Supreme suitable for newer cigar smokers?
The medium-full to full strength and bold, complex flavor profile make this better suited for experienced smokers who appreciate full-bodied Nicaraguan puros. Newer enthusiasts may find the pepper intensity and strength progression challenging. Those still building their palate should consider medium-bodied options before graduating to the Timeless Supreme.
How does box pressing affect the smoke?
Box pressing concentrates the tobacco and creates a slightly different airflow than round cigars, which delivers more focused, intensified flavors. The squared shape also slows the burn slightly for cooler temperatures, makes the cigar easier to rest in an ashtray, and provides a more comfortable grip during extended sessions.
What are the available sizes?
The Timeless Supreme comes in five vitolas: 554 measuring 5 by 54 ring gauge, 652T Torpedo at 6 by 52, 660 at 6 by 60, 749 Churchill at 7 by 49, and 650 Toro at 6 by 50. Each vitola offers slightly different flavor concentration and smoking duration while maintaining the core blend characteristics.
What drinks pair well with the Timeless Supreme?
The coffee, cocoa, and nutty notes pair beautifully with espresso or dark roasted coffee that echoes the cigar’s flavor profile. The vanilla cream and maple sweetness work exceptionally well with aged rum that matches the complexity. Bourbon and rye whiskey complement the pepper and cedar notes, while the full body stands up to peaty Scotch.
Does the Timeless Supreme age well?
Nicaraguan puros with quality construction age exceptionally well with proper storage. The pepper typically mellows, the coffee and cocoa notes deepen, and the vanilla cream becomes more integrated. Six months to a year of rest can significantly improve the blend, with continued development rewarding those who cellar multiple boxes.

I never got to enjoy the Timeless line when it was owned by Nat Sherman. So this is my first experience with the Timeless Supreme. This is my favorite Timeless variant. Definitely full flavored with coffee leather and some pepper. These also seemed well constructed.

Full flavored but not overly spicy. Lots of coffee and leather, with some nice sourdough flavors in there as well. An interesting smoke, and one that burned beautifully.
