Fiat Lux by Luciano
Fiat Lux by Luciano illuminates the ACE Prime portfolio with a blend that lives up to its Latin name, which translates to “let there be light.” Master blender Luciano Meirelles crafted this cigar at Tabacalera Pichardo in Estelí, Nicaragua, using a high priming Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper that delivers natural sweetness, aromatic spice, and the satin like texture the Sumatra seed is known for. The blend earned a 90 point rating from Cigar Coop and placement on their 2022 Cigar of the Year list at number 29.
Luciano Meirelles founded ACE Prime in 2018 alongside Eradio Pichardo and former NBA player Tiago Splitter. The company rebranded as Luciano Cigars in September 2022, reflecting Meirelles’ central role in the operation. His journey into cigars began in 2008 when the Dominican Republic government hired him to fight for taxation relief on Dominican cigars in Brazil and Argentina. During that work he met Ernesto Perez Carrillo, who became his mentor and inspiration to enter the cigar business. Tabacalera Pichardo also produces cigars for Crowned Heads, which distributes all Luciano Cigars brands in the United States.
The Fiat Lux filler incorporates tobaccos from three distinct Nicaraguan regions: Jalapa, Ometepe, and Pueblo Nuevo. Each growing area contributes unique characteristics to the final profile. Jalapa provides smoothness and balance, Ometepe delivers mineral richness from its volcanic soil, and Pueblo Nuevo adds body and depth. This multi region approach creates complexity without sacrificing the approachable character that makes Fiat Lux suitable for both newcomers and experienced smokers.

Blend Composition and Tobacco Origins
The wrapper is a high priming Ecuadorian Sumatra leaf selected for its rich color, visible oil, and thin veins. High priming tobaccos grow near the top of the plant where they receive maximum sun exposure, developing concentrated sugars and oils that translate to sweetness and complexity. This same Sumatra wrapper appears across the Luciano, Pichardo, and MxS brand lines, establishing it as a signature component of the ACE Prime portfolio.
The Nicaraguan binder provides structural integrity while contributing to the blend’s spicy backbone. The filler combines three Nicaraguan origins: Jalapa valley tobaccos for smoothness, Ometepe island leaf for mineral character and depth, and Pueblo Nuevo tobacco for body. Tabacalera Pichardo sources some tobaccos from their own farms in Condega and Pueblo Nuevo, where they grow Criollo and Corojo varietals specifically for their blends.
Flavor Profile and Smoking Experience
The cold draw reveals freshly baked bread, peanuts, caramel, black pepper, malt, milk chocolate, raisins, cedar, and rich tobacco. Opening puffs deliver natural tobacco, earth, cedar, baker’s spice, and black pepper. A mascarpone creaminess forms early, complemented by herbal notes, syrupy sweetness, and traces of vanilla. The first third presents both sweet and savory components to the natural tobacco character.
The second third sees natural tobacco notes shed some sweetness as earth and black pepper increase in intensity. Grassier, green tea oriented notes emerge alongside candied ginger that forms in the center of the stick. The profile checks the complexity and balance boxes while never lacking in flavor or palate stimulation. The final third delivers toasted notes, coffee, stone fruit, and cinnamon that bites the tip of the tongue. Cigar Aficionado noted intense flavors of spicy ginger, molasses, dried fruit, and ground cloves with a hint of coconut.

This Luciano was a little difficult to judge at first. The first ⅓ had the usual cedar and earth you find in many average cigars (although A.J. does it well). Complexity and creaminess came in the second half, making me think that maybe a rest of 4-6 months might have helped it. I’d gladly smoke a couple more to iron things out.😄

Fiat Lux by Luciano is a shining example of a well-crafted medium-bodied cigar. From the first puff, a delightful interplay of cedar and warm spice unfolds on the palate, balanced by a touch of honey sweetness. It’s a refined and satisfying smoke that leans slightly towards the fuller end of medium-bodied

I’m torn on how to rate this one. I’ve had phenomenal experiences with a handful, but I’ve also had a couple not so great ones. The CG has been overall better and more enjoyable vs the Robusto. When they are on, they have been phenomenal, well balanced, had a great sweetness and buttery smooth. The couple bad experiences were very gritty and harsh. They are all kept in the same conditions so it is hard for me to figure out what happened.
The good outweigh the bad but it does make me hesitant to purchase more

I think this cigar is an incredible value. I do love a good Sumatra wrapped cigar and this doesn’t disappoint. You get those earthy, graham cracker notes with hints of molasses. The smaller ring gauge insights is right in my comfort zone for what I like. The construction on this was good. Perfect draw and great burn line. It produced an adequate amount of smoke as well. Definitely a winner for me especially at the price point.

It’s a pretty basic but very solid smoke. Reminded me a lot of the Plascencia 146 Consecha.
