Detailed Description
The Django emerges from Nicholas Melillo’s 2015 journey to Jamaica for Bob Marley’s 70th birthday celebration, where he connected with one of the island’s oldest tobacco growers. This connection led to the revival of Jamaican cow tongue tobacco in premium cigars, a leaf that traces its cultivation back to the indigenous peoples who first occupied the island. The result is a cigar that tells a story of cultural preservation and tobacco innovation.
Wrapped in a leathery Nicaragua Sumatra leaf with tight seams and minimal veining, each Django displays the meticulous construction standards Foundation has become known for. The Caribbean atmospheric herbal fusion process, a technique rooted in thousands of years of tobacco preparation tradition, creates a sophisticated interplay between the exotic Jamaican leaf and robust Nicaraguan fillers. This careful balance produces distinctive floral notes, citrus undertones, and pepper accents underscored by natural sweetness.
The medium-bodied profile makes the Django accessible to both seasoned aficionados seeking new flavor territories and traditional smokers who appreciate exceptional craftsmanship. The smoke delivers consistent complexity throughout its approximately 50-minute smoking time, with excellent draw resistance and even combustion that rarely requires touch-ups. The aromatic quality of the smoke itself becomes part of the experience, with some comparing its fragrance to bay rum or exotic Caribbean botanicals.
Foundation’s commitment to reviving Jamaica’s tobacco legacy shines through every aspect of the Django. This isn’t merely an infused cigar but rather a celebration of Jamaican tobacco culture, expertly woven into a premium smoking experience that respects both tradition and innovation. The Upsetters line, named after the legendary Jamaican backing band, embodies the spirit of the underdog, bringing forgotten tobacco varietals back to prominence in the premium cigar world.

This Upsetters Django was neither too bad, or great. Enjoyable, with a very distinctive flavor, not a bad cigar if you are into the infused kind. Mine had not the best construction either.

Been trying to work through some of the upsetters line as I generally like anything that foundation puts out. Flavors were solid. Really heavy floral notes with some sweetness from the wrapper. The smoke this gives off is very fragrant aroma. Construction on this was good. The infused sticks from foundation were solid but I still prefer their regular premium cigars as that’s more my wheelhouse. Price on these are great as always from Oxford!
