HVC Edición Especial 2018
A modern classic in the HVC portfolio, the Edición Especial 2018 captures the essence of old-school Cuban flavor in a Nicaraguan puro. Draped in a reddish-hued Corojo ’99 wrapper grown by Aganorsa, this medium-bodied cigar layers cream, pepper, chocolate, and rich earth into a silky, impeccably balanced experience.
- 100 % Nicaraguan blend—Corojo ’99 wrapper over vintage Nicaraguan binder & filler
- Traditional Cuban rolling technique for an easy draw and razor-straight burn
- Complex yet approachable profile—sweet cream at first light, evolving into cocoa, black pepper, and loamy earth
- Aged tobaccos deliver refined depth without excessive strength
Rolled at TABSA in Estelí, each Edición Especial 2018 showcases Aganorsa’s celebrated Corojo leaf—famed for its floral aroma and lingering spice. Expect a gentle pepper tingle on the lips, followed by waves of milk chocolate and toasted nuts. Mid-way, earthy minerals surface, while a creamy finish keeps the palate refreshed. The cigar’s flawless construction makes it a reliable companion for any occasion, whether paired with morning coffee or a nightcap stout.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the 2018 Edición Especial differ from other HVC lines?
It focuses on a single-year vintage of select Corojo ’99, giving it a creamier, sweeter profile than the deeper, darker Hot Cake or the spicier Pan Caliente.
Is the strength suitable for beginners?
Yes. Its medium body delivers plenty of flavor without overwhelming nicotine punch, making it friendly for newer smokers.
What beverages pair best?
Try a latte, milk stout, or aged rum—the cigar’s cocoa and cream notes harmonize beautifully with each.
Does this cigar benefit from extra aging?
While ready to smoke out of the box, 6–12 months in a 65–69 % RH humidor will further marry the pepper and chocolate nuances.
Are long-filler tobaccos used?
Absolutely. All leaves are premium, fully-length fillers for a slow, cool burn.
What vitolas are available?
Popular sizes include Toro 6×56, Toro Gordo 6×56, and Corona 5×46 (50-count cabs).
Where are the tobaccos grown?
Aganorsa farms in Jalapa and Estelí supply the Corojo ’99 and other fillers, renowned for their Cuban-seed pedigree.
How should I store these cigars?
Maintain 65–69 % RH at 68–70 °F to preserve oils and flavor integrity.

I enjoyed the HVC Edicion Especial. This Nicaraguan puro lived up to the hype! Medium-bodied with a ton of flavor – earth, chocolate, and peppery spice that seemed to build as the smoke progressed. Draw was excellent, and it burned nice and even.

This blend is one of the better HVC blends. I think the age on this cigar allowed it to deletion some nice complex notes of earth, chocolate and subtle black pepper. I really enjoyed it.

I’m a big fan of Corona sized cigars. This one had some pepper, bakers spice and some fruit like sweetness to it. For the price I would smoke it again.

This was one of the best corojo cigars I’ve had. Right away you get those earthy, peppery flavors that are sharp. It appears there was decent age on this as the cello showed some good age. The construction was real good. Great draw, burn and smoke output. The value on this stick is incredible as it was less than $6 and provided better flavor than a lot more expensive sticks. This corojo was excellent and would not hesitate to pick up more!
