I had never heard of these before, but when I saw they were the oldest Dominican factory out there, I had to try some – I ordered a box of the Gold series, since I am partial to Dominican wrapper leaf. Construction is quality – some visible veins, and inspecting a few revealed a couple of caps that were a tiny bit untidy, but overall, these are springy and oily-looking cigars. Lighting one up, and I’m struck by the similarity to Davidoff, especially the Anniversario series – you get the coffee and cream, but with a spicier note, backed up by a nutty core and a long (long) finish. The flavours are clear, distinhguishable, and linear – there isn’t much transition since it’s so short, but it’s just so good that this really doesn’t matter. I’d encourage anyone to buy a box – these are stellar, top-tier cigars.
