I wanted to try this new take on a cigar that I’ve smoked boxes of, and while it was good, it didnt perform as well as the robustas I usually go for. As with most tapered figurados the draw was terrible at light up, but once it burned into the larger gauge it became serviceable. The tobacco seemed well aged, with a nice combustion line and good smoke output. It’s interesting how the shape of a cigar can change the flavor, a little woodier, a little spicier, but still good. If the price was a little less I would consider aging some, but I’ll stick to the robustas.

Love the Melanio, it was my go to for a very long time. I was hoping this one would be in line flavor wise with the change in vitola but found this one to be quite a bit spicier. Burn was also a bit wavy at times and had to touch up a couple of times. Still a good smoke overall.

I love everything and anything Melanio! I keep boxes of 4 different vitolas on hand at all times. I like perfecto version here as that’s always a very classy option. The banding on this is very attractive. It has all those classic Melanio flavors of brown sugar, spiced earth and nuttiness. The draw was great and that can be hard to achieve in this vitola. The one mark I had against it was I had to touch up a few times. Overall I enjoyed this cigar very much. Was glad Oxford had these for me to try because I’ve always loved this line.
