The Oxford Jornal Batch 2025 is an OCC house expression — a medium-bodied Nicaraguan cigar crafted under the direction of Lucas Da Silva, owner of Oxford Cigar Company, named for the Portuguese word for ‘journal’ or ‘daily.’ Each Jornal is rolled and aged in newspaper, a traditional technique that preserves freshness and creates an artisanal character unique to this Batch.
The Habano Escurio wrapper delivers baking spices and cocoa from the first draw, with the blend evolving through creamy, nutty complexity and a dark brown sugar sweetness in the middle. The finish is earthy and grounded — leather, dried pepper, and woodsy toasted notes that reward patience.
Pairing note: The Jornal’s natural sweetness and toasted character pair beautifully with bourbon or wheated whiskey — a quality Kentucky straight accentuates the woodsy-sweet character this cigar builds to. Also excellent with espresso, sherry-finished Scotch, or cold brew.
