The Tabernacle David Perfecto
The Tabernacle David Perfecto brings Foundation Cigars’ old world sensibility into a compact 5 x 54 format that feels both classic and intensely focused. This small batch Nicaraguan perfecto uses one of the most beloved Connecticut Broadleaf wrappers in modern production, wrapped around a San Andres backed core that delivers earth, cocoa, and spice with real gravitas.
- Hand rolled 5 x 54 perfecto offers an elegant shape, cool burn, and naturally concentrated flavor.
- Dark, oily Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper from the United States adds chocolate, earth, and savory depth.
- Mexican San Andres binder reinforces structure and adds signature richness and grit.
- Long fillers from Honduras and Nicaragua provide balance, nuance, and a satisfying medium full body.
- Flavor profile highlights cedar, earth, spice, leather, malt, cocoa, and natural sweetness.
- Consistently praised for slow, even burn and an easy, reliable draw.
- Box of 25 makes it suitable for both daily rotation and long term humidor aging.
The Tabernacle David Perfecto is Foundation Cigar Company at its most classic, with a dark Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper that immediately signals depth and intensity. Rolled in Nicaragua, this leaf sits over a Mexican San Andres binder, a pairing that marries broadleaf’s dense chocolate and earth with San Andres structure, minerality, and a faint rustic edge that many broadleaf fans look for.
Underneath, aged fillers from Honduras and Nicaragua support the blend with a mix of cedar, grain, and subtle sweetness. The 5 x 54 perfecto vitola gives the cigar a traditional silhouette that feels right at home in the hand, while the tapered foot and head help channel the smoke and emphasize transitions as the ember moves through the ring gauge.
On the palate, smokers can expect an opening built on cedar, earth, and black pepper, followed by leather, malt, and cocoa as the cigar warms and the core fattens up. That natural sweetness that good broadleaf is known for weaves through the profile without turning cloying, anchored by a medium full body that has presence yet stays controlled enough to enjoy without fatigue.
Construction is a clear point of pride, with the David Perfecto frequently praised for an even burn, steady ash, and an effortless draw that still keeps the smoke cool. It is the kind of cigar that works as a centerpiece for a focused evening with a strong coffee or a well chosen spirit, while also fitting neatly into a serious collector’s broadleaf heavy section of the humidor.

It was a medium, good, and very tasty smoke, the aroma wasn´t as rich as I expected, but I enjoyed for sure. Maybe under better circumstances I would enjoyed more, however, will repeat it for sure.

There’s a lot to enjoy here. This little perfecto packs a smooth mix of earthiness, leather and some dark chocolate (among other flavors) with some malt on the retrohale. Plenty of flavors to choose from, but it never gets aggressive or up in your face. The burn is near perfect. A little gem.

The Tabernacle David Perfecto, the CT Broadleaf wrapper gives an earthy boldness and sweetness. The broadleaf wrapper is beautiful. Of the two blends, the original Tabernacle or Havana seed, the Havana seed is definitely better.

The vitola is what makes this cigar – it positively smoulders once it hits the first shoulder, wafting off plumes of smoke. The goal here is clearly to make a cigar that rivals the infamous Liga Privada No. 9, and my first sample here in my view beats it – there are additional aspects in this cigar that an LP9 doesn’t have (amazing as those are), with flavours of floral sweetness and an absolutely crystal clear burnt caramel on top of the typical ‘roasted’ flavours of maduros. Brilliant cigar.

It still has all the bold dark flavors of the Tabernacle, but it’s somehow ever fuller in body. Rich, creamy and delicious.
