Tabernacle Havana Seed CT #142 David
The Tabernacle Havana Seed CT #142 David is a compact, old world inspired perfecto that showcases one of the most distinctive modern Connecticut grown wrappers on the market. This small batch format from Foundation Cigar Co. condenses rich flavor, serious complexity, and refined strength into a 5 x 54 shape that rewards both focused solo sessions and small group tastings.
- Rare U.S. grown Havana Seed CT #142 wrapper aged more than three years for layered, spicy sweet character.
- Meticulous 5 x 54 perfecto vitola delivers an elegant appearance and naturally concentrated flavor delivery.
- Robust Mexican San Andres binder provides structure, earth, and a darker underpinning to the profile.
- Long filler blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos builds depth with cedar, malt, cocoa, and leather.
- Medium full body appeals to experienced smokers while staying controlled enough for adventurous newcomers.
- Highly regarded for excellent construction, steady burn, and reliable draw consistency across boxes.
- Box of 25 perfectos suits both daily rotation use and long term aging in a well managed humidor.
The Tabernacle Havana Seed CT #142 line is one of Foundation’s most talked about projects, thanks largely to the Havana Seed CT #142 wrapper itself. This U.S. grown leaf requires extensive fermentation, often over three years, to tame its natural intensity and unlock a unique combination of spice, sweetness, and savory depth. On the David vitola, that wrapper sits over a hearty Mexican San Andres binder and a core of Honduran and Nicaraguan long filler tobaccos, a recipe designed to support the wrapper without dulling its character.
Rolled as a 5 x 54 perfecto, the David brings a classic silhouette that photographers love to shoot and smokers enjoy handling. The tapered foot and head help focus the smoke, so early puffs can be more wrapper forward before the blend opens up fully. Flavor progression typically runs from cedar, black pepper, and earth in the opening to a more intricate mix that can include malt sweetness, leather, mineral, cocoa, and a lingering natural tobacco sweetness as the cigar warms up.
Construction on this size tends to impress even seasoned perfecto skeptics. The David is known for an even burn line, steady ash, and a draw that feels firm enough to keep the smoke cool while still producing dense, aromatic plumes. That reliability makes it a strong candidate for special pairings, whether you are pouring a malt forward whiskey, a dark beer with roasted grain notes, or a rich espresso that can stand toe to toe with the cigar’s medium full character.
Smokers who enjoy the original Tabernacle line, or other Foundation releases that lean into earthy, complex profiles, often gravitate to the Havana Seed CT #142 David as a more exotic and nuanced expression. With a 25 count box, it is easy to set aside a handful for immediate enjoyment and leave the rest to evolve, tracking how the wrapper’s already lengthy fermentation responds to added humidor age over the coming years.

Definitely a great cigar, complex flavor and impressive aroma from beginning to the end, wish i could give the five stars, but the one was sent to me was dry, hard and definitely you could tell, for a Cigar Foundation classic, not in the best shape.

Love everyone of theses Havana seed Ct 142. This I’ve never tried in this vitola. This was just as delicious as all the others that I’ve smoked. Get that spicy earth, cedar and mineral flavor. Slight white pepper rounds out these fantastic flavors. Like the size on this as it is a quicker smoke than a toro which is normally what I reach for. This is another winner in a long list of winners for me!

This cigar and size deliver an amazing experience every single time. Full body flavors including leather, malt, white pepper, and a savory oily finish. I would be happy to have a box of these on hand at all times. Check them out if you enjoy a beautiful full body smoke.

This is a properly rich cigar – a massive amount of intense spice (as in spices, not ‘spicy’), natural acidic sweetness, leather and cocoa. Construction for a perfecto is very good – starts a bit wonky with the burn due to the narrow foot, but self-corrected by the time the main body of the cigar was reached. Burns with a very heady and exotic aroma that I wager even a non-cigar aficionado would enjoy. I’d recommend a box of these to anyone looking for an exotic-tasting cigar in a classy format.

Such a tasty cigar each and every time. Black pepper, cedar, nuttiness and sweetness. I swear Foundation does not miss! Another solid blend from Nick.
