Smoke was decent – draw wasn’t consistent, but the flavor profile was solid. Definitely was a shorter stick to smoke, so I do think maybe a longer vitola would have been a different experience.

When I saw short sticks that tatuaje had a hand in I was intrigued. I smoked the natural first. Unfortunately that one was a total dud. Not much in the flavor department. Mostly grass and wet cardboard. The maduro was substantially better. I got sweetness in the form of chocolate, dried cherries and some leather. I normally enjoy natural wrappers better but the maduro saved this review to bring it 3 stars.

One of these cigars was exceptional, the other one was nowhere near that. If I could buy a box full of the maduros, I would. It delivered that classic L’Atelier Maduro flavor profile that was rich and sweet without being too nicotine heavy.
The natural, on the other hand, was very bland and boring. I had zero draw issues with either sample, but I couldn’t pick anything up from the natural except maybe warm air or cardboard.

I was pretty exited for these to come out, but they need time to rest. The natty was harsh and unrefined. The draw and construction were great though. The maduro brought this one a one star to a 3. It is reminiscent of the old MAD series with sweet cedar, earth, and baking spices but it was still young. If you get them I’d let them sit for a while.

I can’t believe I have to write this review, because I usually love anything Pete has a hand in, but these sucked kinda hard. Neither one burned well, and the flavors were less than appealing in both the natural and Maduro. The Maduro reminded me of the smell of a very wet forest floor, super earth with some bitter spices and not much else. The natural was like smoking cardboard. When I saw these I thought about grabbing a box as the size is perfect for Wisconsin winters, but now I’m glad I didn’t. They can’t all be home runs I suppose!

I’ve been a fan of this blend for quite sometime and love firecracker sized releases. The Roxy maduro starts with a dank earth undertone and amazing chocolate retro. Nice thick smoke with transitions to leather flavors and medium spice. Snug draw which allows for long ash to develop on such a small vitola. Eager to see how these age, get yourself some before they disappear.
Edit to include the natty:
Draw is much more open. Nice creamy/nutty flavors with a savory finish. Mild-medium spice on the retro that enhances the nutty profile. Nice 35 min smoke when you need those lighter flavors from Tatuaje.
