Tatuaje Surrogates Cracker Crumbs
Tatuaje Surrogates Cracker Crumbs is a small format, big flavor petite corona built around the same blend as the larger Surrogates Animal Cracker, hand rolled at My Father Cigars S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua. Measuring 4 1/2 x 38, this compact stick wraps a dark Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro leaf over Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan filler, delivering the full Surrogates experience in a 30 to 45 minute smoke that does not skimp on intensity, complexity, or attitude.
Key benefits and features
- Compact petite corona format: A 4 1/2 x 38 size focused for a 30 to 45 minute session, designed for smokers who want a serious cigar without the time commitment of a Toro or Churchill.
- Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper: The dark, oily wrapper drives a punchy, flavor forward profile with cedar, pepper, toasted bread, and a dry, earthy core that defines the Surrogates blend.

- Pre cut head, no cutter required: Each Cracker Crumbs cigar arrives pre cut at the head, ready to light without a cutter, which makes it ideal for travel, golf rounds, or any session where convenience matters.
- Soft pack 5 cigar presentation: Packaged in a distinctive five count soft pack, a format that has helped define the Surrogates identity since the line’s 2014 debut at the IPCPR trade show.
- Made at My Father Cigars: Hand rolled at My Father Cigars S.A. in Estelí under the Garcia family’s supervision, with the construction quality that defines every release leaving that factory.
Detailed description
Surrogates is part of the L’Atelier Imports family co founded by Pete Johnson and the Garcia family of My Father Cigars, the same partnership behind Tatuaje, which is why the brand frequently appears in the same retailer humidors as Pete Johnson’s flagship line. Each Surrogates vitola is given a quirky, food adjacent name, and Cracker Crumbs is the petite corona companion to the larger Animal Cracker, sharing the same blend in a much shorter format. The cigar launched alongside the L’Atelier Travailleurs, El Suelo Vuelos, and Trocadero Ruelles in 2014, all packaged in distinctive five count soft packs that remain a recognizable signature of the line.
The pre light experience signals the cigar’s small package, big flavor philosophy. The Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper presents in a dark, almost maduro brown shade with moderate oil, visible seams, and a dense, evenly packed feel in the hand. The aroma off the foot carries cedar, dark earth, pepper, and toasted bread, while the pre cut cold draw delivers cedar, a touch of dark cocoa, and a sharp pepper tingle that previews the punch to come.
From first light, Cracker Crumbs comes out swinging. The opening puffs deliver black and red pepper, cedar, toasted bread, and a dry, earthy core that sits firmly in medium full territory. The retrohale carries a hot, almost cayenne like fruit pepper that adds dimension to the heavier base notes. As the burn moves through the middle, a sharp Dr. Pepper sweetness emerges alongside creaminess, sunflower seeds, and a layer of baking spice, with the cigar holding its medium plus body and medium strength steady. The final inch turns creamy with buttermilk, woodsiness, and a return of dark berry sweetness, before the flavor density ticks up to medium full at the close. Construction is excellent throughout, with a straight burn, light gray ash, and the convenience of an already prepared draw that holds from light to nub.

How is Cracker Crumbs related to the Surrogates Animal Cracker?
Cracker Crumbs uses the same Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper, Nicaraguan binder, and Nicaraguan filler blend as the much larger Surrogates Animal Cracker (6 x 60), but in a 4 1/2 x 38 petite corona format that concentrates the smoke and shortens the session to 30 to 45 minutes.
Who makes Surrogates?
Surrogates is a brand within L’Atelier Imports, the company co founded by Pete Johnson of Tatuaje and the Garcia family of My Father Cigars, with all Surrogates vitolas hand rolled at My Father Cigars S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua under the Garcia family’s supervision.
Why does Cracker Crumbs come pre-cut?
Each cigar in the Surrogates Cracker Crumbs five-pack arrives with the head already prepared so it can be lit without a cutter, a convenience that makes the small format especially well suited to travel, golf rounds, and quick sessions where bringing or finding a cutter is inconvenient.
How strong is Cracker Crumbs?
Cracker Crumbs sits at medium strength and medium plus to medium full body, opening with assertive pepper and cedar, settling into a creamy, complex middle, and finishing medium full with woodsy, dark berry character, making it best for smokers who want concentrated flavor in a short session.
What flavors should I expect?
Expect cedar, black and red pepper, toasted bread, and dry earth up front, evolving into Dr. Pepper sweetness, creaminess, sunflower seeds, and baking spice through the middle, before finishing creamy with buttermilk, woodsiness, and dark berry notes in the final inch.
How long does it take to smoke a Cracker Crumbs?
The 4 1/2 x 38 petite corona format typically delivers 30 to 45 minutes of smoking time at a relaxed pace, which makes it ideal for commutes, lunch breaks, or any window when a Toro or Churchill is too long.
What drinks pair well with Cracker Crumbs?
Bourbon, dark beer like a porter or stout, espresso, or aged rum all complement the cigar’s pepper, cedar, toasted bread, and creamy berry profile while standing up to the medium plus body and concentrated flavor density.
How should I store Cracker Crumbs?
Store at 65 to 70 percent relative humidity and roughly 68 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit in a stable humidor. Even though the soft pack is convenient for travel, long term storage is best done in a humidified environment so the Habano Oscuro wrapper retains its oils and the Nicaraguan filler continues marrying its flavors.

Nice stick! Full of flavor in a span that carries me thru the cold months. Very consistent and I love not needing to cut the cigar while preserving the notes I crave, most small formats need a cut which at times can hurt the head from my experience vs larger Vitolas. These crumbs rotate between Henkie minis, breakfast tacos, Casdagli puritos, and Padron corticos (when I can find them 😎). Enjoy!

Excited to try these. I am a fan of Tats so I can’t imagine these being anything but yummy! The small vitola will be nice when I am wanting a short and quick smoke.

Love these cracker crumbs! Full of flavor and perfect for the winter months or when you don’t have a ton of time to smoke. Short smoking time but no compromise in flavor here. Highly recommend.
