West Tampa Black
The West Tampa Black is a robust, medium-full bodied Nicaraguan cigar engineered for both new and seasoned smokers who crave depth and complexity. With a commanding dark Habano wrapper, binder from Ometepe, and fillers of Condega Viso and Esteli Ligero, this blend brings forth a balanced profile of wood, earth, raisin, spice, and leather. Each meticulously aged cigar is a complement to the West Tampa White and promises a memorable, satisfying session whether you prefer bold flavors or nuanced strength.
- Dark Nicaraguan Habano Wrapper – Delivers rich, spicy, and earthy flavors with visual appeal
- Ometepe Habano Binder – Adds strength, depth, and underlying sweetness
- Condega Viso & Esteli Ligero Filler – Legendary Nicaraguan tobaccos for a bold, complex, and balanced smoke
- Medium-Full Bodied – Satisfies those seeking richness without overwhelming potency
- Flavor Notes – Expect layers of wood, raisin, clove, coffee, pepper, bittersweet chocolate, and leather
- Excellent Construction – Praised for draw, smoke production, slow even burn, and intensity in smaller ring gauges
- Box Count of 20 – Perfect for rotation, sharing, or extended enjoyment
Initial flavors include light wood, mild chocolate, and spices which transition into more prominent notes of earth, raisin, clove, and leather as the session progresses. Some find the smoke smooth and milder than expected, while the construction consistently earns high marks for its burn and draw. Occasional issues with youth or relights are noted, but many reviewers suggest the Black benefits from some humidor time, which elevates the flavor clarity and smoothness over time.

Lots of earth and bitter leather. A touch of ammonia in there too, I think this needed some more shelf time. Burned badly too, after three relights I put it down.

Really lived up to expectations with a very nice draw and burn profile. Flavors of raisin and clove coupled with leather and coffee notes. I thought the smaller size performed a bit better and the flavors were more intense. Great cigar!

Average cigar to be honest, Rick Rodriguez coming from CAO, I expected more but definitely give him some time and he will knock it out the park. Overall a fun cigar to get into something new but the Tampa Black smokes like a bundle cigar

I prefer the mellow white but this black is better than the red. Like a stronger white. Better than allot of cigars at this price.

Really enjoyed this cigar. The burn was great with an easy draw and plenty of smoke. The profile was smoother and milder than I expected. Initially light wood and mild chocolate with some spices although the wood became a bit more forward during the smoke. Definitely need some more of these.

I tried these upon delivery and was underwhelmed. Then I waited a few months and tried again. Holy cow what a difference. I haven’t run into this in the past when I’ve gotten these in hand. Odds are high that this delivery was just a fresher batch overall.
Solid cigar, well constructed. Hits the right notes for me.

Got pepper, coffee, wood, and a nice earthy finish with some leather. Milder than expected strength-wise. Solid smoke, but might not be my top pick from West Tampa.

It is slow even burning, packed with slightly sweet aroma and flavors of spicy earth and a finish with bitter leather and woodiness. This cigar definitely requires some time to fully enjoy and appreciate it.
