Flavor Symphony
From first light, the No. 9 Natural unveils savory waves of aged Nicaraguan tobacco, pepper, and earth that establish its bold character immediately. As the cigar develops, layers of chocolate, coffee, and caramel emerge alongside black cherry sweetness and cream notes that add richness and complexity. The middle section introduces toasted marshmallow nuances balanced by earth and spice, while the extended finish reveals the full maturity of five-year-aged tobacco through smooth, lingering flavors that evolve rather than fade.
The aging process manifests as velvety texture and seamless transitions between flavor phases. Unlike younger cigars that can present sharp edges or bitter notes, the No. 9 Natural delivers refined power where strength serves the flavor rather than overwhelming it. Aficionados consistently praise the depth achievable only through patient aging, making this cigar worth the years required to bring it to market and the premium price it commands.
Construction Perfection
Padron’s legendary quality control reaches its apex in the 1926 Anniversary series. The No. 9 Natural features razor-sharp burn lines requiring minimal correction, effortless draw that delivers generous smoke volume, and ash that holds solid gray sections before releasing cleanly. The box-press format enhances these characteristics while providing visual distinction and comfortable hand feel. Every aspect of construction reflects the care invested in selecting, aging, and rolling these premium tobaccos.
Legacy of Excellence
The 1926 Anniversary series launched to commemorate Jose Orlando Padron’s 1926 birth, representing the family’s most ambitious project. After fleeing Cuba in 1961 and rebuilding in Nicaragua, the Padron family spent decades perfecting their craft before feeling confident enough to create cigars worthy of this milestone. The decision to age all tobaccos five years minimum—extraordinary in an industry where two to three years is standard—demonstrates the commitment to excellence that earned Padron its position among the world’s most respected cigar makers.

The Nicaraguan flavor is quite obvious when the cigar is lit, and the peppery spice flavor bursts out. It is quite spicy at first, but not as numbing as the 80th anniversary. There is some milk and pepper flavor. After a few puffs, the taste gradually stabilizes. In terms of smoke, it has all the flavors that Nicaragua should have, pepper, earth, some spice, and a large amount of smoke, with a little bit of milk flavor. The nose is also mainly peppery.

This vitola is amazing! 56 isn’t my prefered size (no puns intended) but this particular cigar just brings out so much more richness versus the other vitolas in the range. It is slow burning and leaves you utterly satisfied!
