The Morphine Limited Edition exemplifies the artistic approach that James and Angela Brown have cultivated since launching Black Label Trading Co. in 2013. After years of experiencing the disconnect between raw Nicaraguan tobacco quality and what reached American shelves, James created blends that showcase the gritty, intense character he discovered during his extensive time in Nicaragua. The result is a portfolio of cigars that refuse to compromise on boldness or complexity.
This anniversary release features the signature dual wrapper construction that made Morphine famous among serious collectors. The combination of Ecuador Maduro and Mexican San Andrés wrappers creates layers of complexity rarely achieved in traditional single-wrapper cigars. Underneath, carefully selected Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos provide the backbone for a smoking experience that evolves dramatically through each third. Expect rich notes of dark chocolate, espresso, earth, raisins, black cherry sweetness, and bold spice throughout the journey, with distinctive anise notes emerging on the finish.
Production takes place at Fabrica Oveja Negra, the Browns’ own factory that operates more like an artist’s studio than a traditional manufacturing facility. This perfecto is fantastic. Balanced flavors that pick up a nice syrupy not in the last third. Nice transitions. Intense but that works in this size.

Not a bad cigar by any means but nothing that blew me out of the water. I think BLTC has better offerings. You get the classic BLTC experience with long finishes and bold flavor notes. The pepper on the retro is very present. I would smoke again but wouldn’t load a humidor full of these personally. Worth a try though!
