I originally took an interest in this cigar from 2 factors, first is that I tried the Caldwell Anastasia before and it was a beast, shame the original blue band isn’t available anymore, the second is that this cigar uses a Dominican wrapper. The OpusX is in my opinion the best cigar of all time, at least to my tastebuds, and ever since I have always taken an interest in Dominican wrapper cigars. The King is dead is delicious, it didn’t really feel full bodied to me, more like a medium-medium plus. Lovely complexity, this is one to try if you are a fan of Caldwell’s offerings.

Caldwell’s best cigar; a rich, full-bodied experience. Plenty of flavours, and at least three distinct transitions – bold tobacco, coffee grounds, a natural sweetness like maple syrup, and a refined finish – a cigar that can easily be enjoyed all the way down. Well worth the price, and a rather unique cigar to boot, given that it uses a wrapper type that pretty much no one else uses.
