Las Calaveras is one of the most anticipated annual releases in the premium cigar industry today. Originally launched in 2014, Las Calaveras pays a respectful homage to those who have passed on in the previous year. It is our intent that Las Calaveras will be seen as a celebration of life and remembrance, rather than a mournful symbol of death and loss.
The Las Calaveras EL 2022 is the first time that the blend will feature a Nicaraguan Corojo ’99 wrapper. The taste profile is classic ‘My Father’ as it demonstrates a muscular intensity while retaining complexity and balance. The Corojo Oscuro wrapper leaf completes a blend of all Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos. A total of 1,500 boxes of each of the three vitolas (108,000 cigars) of Las Calaveras EL 2022 were produced at My Father Cigars in Esteli, Nicaragua. An additional 2,500 samplers were produced featuring one of each of the three vitolas, along with a sampler exclusive petite lancero (measuring 6 1/2 x 40). Each 24-count box of Las Calaveras is packaged with three rows of eight cigars. The three rows represent life’s cycle of a beginning, middle, and end. In biblical terms, the number ‘8’ signifies new beginnings, and in mathematical terms, an ‘8’ laid on its side symbolizes “infinity,” as in eternal life.

Just reordered another one. Fantastic smoke. Notes of coco, coffee and natural tobaccco. Excellent draw with decent burn. Would recommend to a more experienced smoker due to the nuanced flavors this stick has. Overall a 8.9 out of 10.

Classic CH. Espresso and pepper. Lots of smoke production. A bit of age will do these well, but they’re good to smoke now too.

Crowned Heads Las Calaveras El 2022, I have not tried previous releases. This smoke was heavy spice-forward and a bit too full-bodied for me. You will definitely notice transitions throughout the smoke.

Fantastic annual release from CH. This year’s comes out of the My Father factory in Nicaragua, so if you’re a fan of the Garcia’s tobacco, this one does not disappoint. Lots of coffee and cedar notes on the light, and then has light leather notes throughout. I’ve tried all three vitolas and the LC46 one seems to have the most flavor balance of the three.
