Ferio Tego’s namesake line of premium cigars returns with the 2022 release of Elegancia and Generoso. Both 6” x 50 toros, the two styles are offered in custom, hand-made travel humidors of ten cigars each. The humidors are preloaded with humidity control packs in the lower compartment of the humidor to ensure the cigars are properly maintained after they are acquired.
“The 2022 Ferio Tego releases are a spectacular continuation of our flagship brand. This year’s offerings are in keeping with the styles we established in our inaugural 2021 blends. The Elegancia has a mouth-filling body with graceful yet rich flavors. The Generoso is full-bodied, with decadent, savory notes.” – Michael Herklots, co-owner Ferio Tego.
Ferio Tego intends to continue to offer unique premium cigar styles annually, each release dated, to establish and reinforce a spirit of consistency yet flexibility year after year. Further, the annual limited releases encourage a culture of connoisseurship and collectability, and to provide an opportunity to embrace the aging process and the resulting development of nuances and subtleties in the experience of these styles over time, as has been the practice and culture of wine collectors.
Blender’s Notes: The 2022 Generoso is an intense savory smoke that delivers a wide range of rich, dark flavors, in a full yet smooth body. It’s wonderfully balanced and incredibly engaging as the flavors develop throughout the experience.
Flavors: Reminiscent of black pepper, cardamom, dark chocolate, espresso, forest floor, fudge, leather, madeira, tobacco, walnut, and white pepper.

A pretty mild start to this. A little coriander and white pepper make up the spice profile, while the backbone is straight roasted peanuts sans salt. An inch in some very nice creamy coffee notes come in and while it’s still in the mild spectrum, a dash of black pepper joins the spice. Things have ramped some by the halfway point, dark chocolate joins as does dark honey, and the strength and flavor here go up to a solid medium. The retrohale bring out a lot more of the sweetness of the tobacco, honeyed almonds and vanilla with a light white pepper burn on the end. The entire smoke experience has that effervescence that I love, but it really builds in the last third. The strength here goes up to medium plus, about a 6.5. The spice leads the profile now with the dark chocolate finishing. Cinnamon is present for the last few inches, and the sweetness is golden apples. Nice stuff, transitional in a way that makes sense, and enjoyable at every turn.
The construction is damn near flawless. Great even burn, nicely open draw, easy mouthfuls of smoke, and a burn time of an hour and twenty.
Easily the best I’ve had from Herklots new venture, and that’s saying a lot as I have enjoyed just about everything he has put out so far. The price point hurts, however. This comes in a ten count humidor, and while that makes sense if your buying by the box it’s unfortunate that the packaging must play into the cost per stick. if this was a twelve or even fifteen dollar cigar I’d be in for fivers for sure. Still, if I find a discount on boxes I would be tempted to pull the trigger, it was that good.
