Crowned Heads Mil Dias
Crowned Heads Mil Dias is a medium bodied, four nation cigar wrapped in an Ecuadorian Habano leaf over a Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Peru, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua, handcrafted at Tabacalera Pichardo in Esteli, Nicaragua. “Mil Dias” translates to “one thousand days” in Spanish, a reference to the nearly three years it took Jon Huber of Crowned Heads and ACE Prime co founders Eradio Pichardo and Luciano Meirelles to bring this blend from first sample to finished cigar. That patience produced a cigar of rare balance and evolving complexity, opening with white pepper, baking spice, and cream before transitioning through coffee, roasted nuts, cocoa, honey, cedar, and citrus in the middle, and finishing with black pepper, leather, charred oak, and dark chocolate. Available in four core vitolas and periodic limited edition sizes, Mil Dias is Crowned Heads’ second collaboration with Tabacalera Pichardo and one of the most praised medium bodied cigars released in recent years.
- Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with a milk chocolate brown color, moderate oil, and a smooth, attractive appearance that contributes spice, sweetness, and a rich aromatic quality to the blend.
- Nicaraguan binder provides structure, subtle richness, and a peppery backbone that carries through the entire smoking experience.
- Four nation filler blend using tobaccos from Peru, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua, creating a layered complexity where each country’s tobacco contributes a distinct dimension: Peruvian sweetness and body, Costa Rican herbal and floral qualities, and Nicaraguan earth and spice.
- 1,000 days of development from first sample in 2017 to completed blend in 2020, reflecting an uncommon patience that allowed every component to be tested, adjusted, and refined until the blend achieved its intended balance.
- Medium body with medium plus flavor intensity that evolves in clear, well defined thirds from spice and cream to coffee and cocoa to pepper and leather, making it one of the most dynamic medium bodied cigars available.
- Handcrafted at Tabacalera Pichardo, the Nicaraguan factory co owned by Eradio Pichardo and Luciano Meirelles of ACE Prime, known for meticulous construction and premium tobacco sourcing.
- Box count of 20 for all core production vitolas.
The Mil Dias story
The project began in the summer of 2017 at the IPCPR Trade Show, where Eradio Pichardo and Luciano Meirelles presented blend samples to Jon Huber. Huber, the co founder of Crowned Heads, had already collaborated with Tabacalera Pichardo on the Juarez cigar, but this new project would become something far more ambitious. Over the next thousand days, the three men refined the blend through countless iterations, sourcing tobaccos from four countries and pushing the boundaries of what a medium bodied cigar could deliver in terms of flavor complexity and transitions.
“To create a blend and innovate you need to take risks beyond conventional thinking,” Luciano Meirelles said of the project. “Mil Dias represents our relationship’s journey, and it also highlights the fruitfulness of our recently announced strategic alliance.” That alliance, formed in 2020, established a deeper partnership where ACE Prime’s cigars would be produced through Crowned Heads while Crowned Heads continued to leverage Tabacalera Pichardo’s factory. Mil Dias was the first major release under this new alliance, and its success validated the collaborative model that both companies have continued to build upon.
Eradio Pichardo, co owner of Tabacalera Pichardo and the ACE Prime Group, echoed the enthusiasm: “When Luciano had me try his first blend of Mil Dias I knew right away we had something magical.” That magic comes from the interplay of tobaccos from four different countries, each bringing its own character to a blend that refuses to sit still, evolving from puff to puff and rewarding the patient smoker who lets the cigar dictate its own pace.
Crowned Heads
Crowned Heads was co founded by Jon Huber and Mike Conder in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2011. The brand name draws from the old expression “crowned heads of Europe,” a reference to royalty, and the company has built its identity around a boutique approach that emphasizes quality, creativity, and limited production. The portfolio includes Le Careme, Las Calaveras (an annual limited release), Four Kicks, Jericho Hill, Juarez, and Mil Dias, each produced at different Nicaraguan factories and each reflecting Huber’s hands on approach to blend development and brand storytelling. Crowned Heads has earned a reputation as one of the most respected boutique brands in the premium cigar industry, with multiple top ten placements on Cigar Aficionado’s annual lists.
The four nation blend
What sets Mil Dias apart from most premium cigars is the use of tobaccos from four distinct countries in a single blend. The Ecuadorian Habano wrapper brings spice and sweetness. The Nicaraguan binder and filler contribute earth, pepper, and the structural backbone. Peruvian tobacco adds a unique body and sweetness that is rare in the premium cigar world, as very few brands source filler from Peru. Costa Rican tobacco brings herbal and floral qualities that add brightness and lift to the profile, preventing the blend from becoming one dimensional in its earth and spice.
This international approach is the result of Tabacalera Pichardo’s extensive sourcing network and willingness to look beyond the traditional Nicaraguan, Honduran, and Dominican tobacco triangle. The Peruvian and Costa Rican fillers are what give Mil Dias its distinctive character, and they are the reason the cigar delivers such clear flavor transitions through its thirds rather than a static, unchanging profile.
Smoking experience
The Ecuadorian Habano wrapper is a milk chocolate brown with moderate oil, fine veins, and a smooth, well constructed exterior. The pre light aroma presents cedar, earth, hay, and a mild sweetness. The cold draw brings earth, mint, cedar, and a touch of sweetness.
The first third opens with white pepper and baking spice through the retrohale, balanced by a creamy texture that coats the palate immediately. Earth and toasted bread join quickly, and cedar emerges with an aromatic, aged quality. A citrus like brightness appears on the retrohale, adding a lively, engaging character to the opening puffs. Honey begins to build as a persistent undertone, threading sweetness beneath the spice. The pepper is present but controlled, never aggressive, and it balances beautifully with the cream and earth. Strength sits firmly at medium, with body in the medium range. Smoke production is generous and the draw is effortless.
The second third sees the spice mellow as coffee and roasted nuts take the lead. Cocoa weaves in and out of the profile, adding depth to the coffee and creating a rich, almost mocha like quality. The cream from the first third persists and becomes more velvety. Cherry and dark fruit notes appear alongside cedar, and baking spices with cinnamon and nutmeg warm the finish. Graham cracker and a bready quality round out the mid palate, and the honey that started in the first third continues to grow. This middle section is where Mil Dias reveals its full complexity, with each puff delivering a slightly different combination of flavors while maintaining a cohesive, balanced core.
The final third returns to its spicier roots. Black pepper and leather step forward as the primary drivers, layered over charred oak and lingering creaminess. Dark chocolate joins the finish with a bittersweet quality, and the earth from the opening reasserts itself alongside damp wood and cedar. Coffee lingers on the palate between draws. The cigar finishes bold but smooth, with the 1,000 days of development evident in the complete absence of harshness or bitterness. Strength edges toward medium plus by the end, and body stays in the medium to medium full range. Construction is excellent throughout, with a straight burn, tight ash, and consistent draw.
Vitola options
| Vitola | Size | Box Count | Production |
|---|---|---|---|

| Edmundo | 5 3/8 x 52 | 20 | Regular production |
| Double Robusto | 6 3/8 x 50 | 20 | Regular production |

| Mareva | 5 1/2 x 42 | 20 | Limited edition |
| Escogidos | 7 1/2 x 49 | 20 | Limited edition |
The Edmundo (5 3/8 x 52) is the most widely reviewed and purchased size, offering a concentrated robusto format where the flavors are dense and the transitions compact. The Corona Gorda (6 x 46) emphasizes the wrapper’s contribution with its thinner ring gauge, producing a spicier, more wrapper forward experience. The Double Robusto (6 3/8 x 50) and Sublime (6 x 54) provide extended smoking sessions where the transitions develop more gradually.
Pairings
Mil Dias’ cream, coffee, cocoa, and honey profile pairs naturally with medium roast coffee, where the nutty and caramel qualities in the coffee complement the cigar’s baking spice and cocoa notes. A brown ale or amber ale matches the bready, graham cracker qualities of the middle third. For spirits, a smooth bourbon with vanilla and caramel notes or an aged rum with toffee and dried fruit creates a layered, complementary pairing that mirrors the cigar’s evolving complexity.

What does “Mil Dias” mean?
Mil Dias translates to “one thousand days” in Spanish. It refers to the nearly three years of blend development between Jon Huber of Crowned Heads and ACE Prime co founders Eradio Pichardo and Luciano Meirelles, from first sample in 2017 to completed cigar in 2020.
What does the Mil Dias taste like?
White pepper, baking spice, and cream open the cigar, transitioning into coffee, roasted nuts, cocoa, honey, cedar, and citrus through the middle, and finishing with black pepper, leather, charred oak, and dark chocolate. The profile evolves in well defined thirds while maintaining a balanced core of spice and cream.
What makes Mil Dias unique?
It uses tobaccos from four countries: Ecuador (wrapper), Nicaragua (binder and filler), Peru (filler), and Costa Rica (filler). Very few premium cigars source filler from Peru and Costa Rica, and these components give Mil Dias its distinctive transitions and layered complexity.
Who created the Mil Dias?
Jon Huber, co founder of Crowned Heads, collaborated with Eradio Pichardo and Luciano Meirelles, co founders of ACE Prime and co owners of Tabacalera Pichardo. The blend was developed over 1,000 days starting at the 2017 IPCPR Trade Show.
What sizes are available?
Four core production sizes: Corona Gorda (6 x 46), Edmundo (5 3/8 x 52), Double Robusto (6 3/8 x 50), and Sublime (6 x 54). Crowned Heads periodically releases limited edition sizes including the Mareva (5 1/2 x 42) and Escogidos (7 1/2 x 49).
How strong is the Mil Dias?
Medium strength with medium to medium full body. The company describes it as medium plus in body with full flavor. Strength edges slightly higher in the final third but stays in the medium range throughout, making it approachable for a wide range of smokers while delivering enough complexity to satisfy experienced palates.
What pairs well with Mil Dias?
Medium roast coffee, brown ale, amber ale, smooth bourbon with vanilla and caramel notes, or aged rum with toffee and dried fruit all complement the cigar’s cream, coffee, cocoa, honey, and baking spice profile.
Is the Mil Dias suitable for everyday smoking?
Its medium body, consistent construction, and evolving flavor profile make it ideal for both daily enjoyment and special occasions. The balance and smoothness allow it to be smoked at any time of day without overwhelming the palate.

This is always a big winner for me. Love the classic flavors here. Earthiness, Graham cracker, cedar and some honey. Nice milk chocolate wrapper with some bruising but still very attractive. Love the band on this, simplistic. Great construction as I would expect from CH. just another banger from a great company.
