Illusione R Rothchildes
Illusione R Rothchildes is a celebrated resurrection of pre-revolution Nicaraguan flavor, blending time-honored tradition with modern craftsmanship in a value-rich, medium-bodied cigar. Masterminded by Dion Giolito and crafted at the renowned Raices Cubanas factory, this petite robusto (4 1/2 x 50) is a favorite among those who crave complexity and heritage without breaking the bank.
- Mexican San Andres Café Colorado wrapper – Cocoa-brown and marbled, setting the stage for spicy, earthy richness
- Corojo ’99 and Criollo ’98 Aganorsa leaf binder/filler – Signature Nicaraguan varietals deliver depth, character, and a gentle sweetness
- Triple cap, hand-rolled construction – A nod to tradition, ensuring a consistent and superior smoking experience
- Complex and evolving flavor – Begins with a peppery, floral punch, evolving to earthy sweetness and subtle minerals as you smoke
- Medium-bodied, accessible for all – Equally appealing to novices and seasoned cigar enthusiasts
- Exceptional value – Delivers luxurious complexity at a remarkably modest price
Expect a unique initial spice and floral note followed by waves of earth, white pepper, minerals, and an inherent Aganorsa sweetness. Some reviewers note the cigar can become bitter or hot if smoked too quickly, while more patient smokers enjoy a balanced, punchy profile with manageable spice. While construction is generally solid, individual sticks can vary—a small price for the blend’s layered character and affordability.

This Illusione Rothchilde a was decent smoke in my opinion, the one I got didn´t had the best construction, and came a bit dry, however, I like Illusione blends, so might be just that.

I have to admit that I didn’t particularly love this cigar. This is probably my personal taste or perhaps I just smoked it a little too fast. The overall profile was light wood and spice with a sour component that I didn’t much like and also a little bitterness. The spiciness and pepper increased during the smoke. Win some, lose some, but that’s part of the experience trying different cigars.

I wanted to like this but for me the construction was a bit off. This cigar got hot. I wasn’t hot boxing it but it went out twice and burned really hot. The flavors I did get from it was white pepper and an earthy mineral note. I just wish the construction was a bit better. It was hard to keep this lit. I hope this is a one off since everything else I’ve tried from them has been solid.

This is a very paper forward, punchy little cigar. I find that if you don’t take your time smoking them they can become somewhat bitter, but if your patient they stay at a manageable level of spice and flavor. I know a lot of people love these, but they never hit me quite right. Construction was fine, but just a little spicier than I prefer without something to balance that spice out with.
