Prepare to embark on a journey that pays homage to the rich history and timeless allure of the broadleaf puros. Mi Querida Black Sakahan is the ultimate expression of Dunbarton’s family of broadleaf ligas and a deeply personal testament to my unwavering passion for cigars. With over three decades of experience in the industry, I have dedicated myself to crafting a cigar that encapsulates the essence of what ignited my love affair with cigars in the first place.
It was many years ago when Steve Saka first encountered the captivating broadleaf puros meticulously crafted by Sr. Frank Llaneza and Sr. Estelo Padron at the iconic Honduran-American Tobacco, S.A. (HATSA) factory in Cofradia, Honduras. While they may have appeared slightly rough and unrefined by today’s standards, their cigars possessed an explosion of flavors that left a lasting impression on me. The earthy, sweet, and full-bodied characteristics of these cigars were simply intoxicating, guiding me like a “North Star” as I embarked on my own cigar-making journey.
“Black” represents the culmination of this distinct blend within our esteemed Mi Querida family of puros. It remains true to the soul of its predecessors while introducing a carefully selected grade of Honduran-grown Habano Seed tripa to elevate the smoking experience even further. This meticulous blend seeks to recreate the very essence of those early years that captivated me, devoid of commercial constraints or the need to produce cigars on a large scale to sustain a factory.
Only the finest materials are employed in the creation of Mi Querida Black. The tripas undergo an exhaustive process to ensure their optimal creaminess, while the dark Connecticut-grown Broadleaf capas are meticulously sourced, with acute attention paid to their craftsmanship. The result is a cigar that embodies robustness, richness, and an indulgent satisfaction that surpasses expectations.

I am a big Dunbarton fan but these missed the mark for me. Construction and quality were great, but I did not enjoy the flavor as much as I normally do with Saka cigars.

Mi Querida Black Sakakhan, An excellent cigar with sweet raisins and chocolate characteristics that delivers fuller bodied smoking experience like its cousin – the Triqui Traca. In the Triqui Traca line, my go-to size is the 648. With this double corona being a 54 ring gauge, I would say the smoking experience is a little milder on the body. I looking forward to the 648 size in the Sakakhan line and will definitely be reordering this original release size…as soon as Oxford gets it back in stock.

Absolute flavor party. Great right off the mail truck, and I’d wager this will be amazing in a year.

Hi Justin, I cannot wait for the 1 year of age on my box of Sakakhan to see how they develop!

Pretty good smoke. Very Skaka-esque, so you kind of know what you’re getting (in a good way). Glad I grabbed a box!

Red pepper, cedar, raisins. Lasts for a long time. Good construction. Great stick overall but the price is a little steep for it in my opinion.
