In a way I was hoping I wouldn’t like this. I’m not made of money, so I can’t really afford to fall in love here, but thats exactly what happened. The regular production FDLA is in the running for MVP for me year after year. Great price, consistently great construction and flavor, and approachable any time of the day. Suffice it to say I was pretty stoked to hear that a special edition of one of my favorite cigars was debuting soon, but I’d be lying if I said I didnt choke a little when I saw the price. Also when I saw that the wrapper was a higher priming and that Jaime claimed it was stronger than the regular line I thought perhaps this would be a disappointment, because as much as I love the original I have never been much on the Maduro variations, and I was thinking this would perhaps fall closer to the latter. Absolutely not. I’m surprised that Jaime says this is stronger than the original because it is INSANELY smooth. The finish is very very clean. I’m smoking this without even a glass of water and it’s completely unnecessary. The flavor is so good its literally making my mouth water. It’s very nuanced but I can still pick a lot of different flavors out – caramel, popcorn, roasted walnuts, cocoa, smooth pepper, dark fruit… I could keep going. I’ve smoked some amazing cigars in my time but this honestly might be the best I’ve ever had. If you ant a full bodied full strength experience this is not the cigar for you, don’t waste your money. But if you love an amazing medium bodied masterpiece, try t least one of these.

When My Father puts out a stick at this price point you know it’s going to be top quality, so I had to give it a try. I lean more toward full bodied and full strength, but I fell in love with this cigar immediately! This slightly stronger version of the original blend amps up the experience. Construction and draw are flawless. Incredibly smooth medium body cigar worth the price.
