Detailed Description
Peter James Los Estoico Maduro is a vivid testament to what happens when casual elegance meets robust power. The Mexican San Andrés wrapper is dark, oily, and brimming with chocolate and espresso notes, enhanced by the strength and complexity of its Nicaraguan filler core. Jalapa and Condega leaves, joined by a house “secret tobacco,” provide subtle herbal, earthy, and meaty accents, ensuring each puff offers a new discovery.
The cigar opens with rich cocoa and roasted espresso, evolving through sweet earth, subtle spice, and on occasion, a fleeting green herbal quality—hinting at cilantro or roasted savoriness. The profile is intentionally bigger and bolder than the Habano, while still delivering a refined, elegant body without overwhelming strength. Reviewers praise its smooth, satisfying finish, especially when paired with a quality coffee or as an indulgence after a meal. Occasional draws may show some resistance at first, but the smoking experience consistently rewards patience with evolving flavors and excellent construction.

This was an interesting smoke with a unique flavor make up. There was a strange herbal component in the first few inches that made me think of cilantro. That’s not quite what it was but that’s what came to mind, and that was a first for me. It had some nice roasted meaty quality to it too. Dark flavors and a decent strength. The first half didn’t smoke terribly well, it was a bit of a spongy draw. It opened up fine eventually and I was able to enjoy it for the most part.

Peter James Los Estoico Maduro, As noted in my review of the Habano blend, I loved their Panna Pura Organic Coffee so decided to try their cigar lineup. I paired the Maduro with their coffee (which is a great pairing). The Maduro is slightly more robust than the Habano blend. Has more chocolate, espresso tasting notes with an earthy finish. The Maduro has more to offer than the Habano blend in terms of flavor and strength.
