Arturo Fuente Rosado Sungrown Magnum R
The Arturo Fuente Rosado Sungrown Magnum R represents one of the Fuente family’s most accessible luxury offerings, combining nearly a decade of wrapper aging with the meticulous craftsmanship that defines every cigar to emerge from their Dominican facilities. This medium-bodied creation showcases an Ecuadorian Habano Rosado Sungrown wrapper sourced from lower primings and aged for 8 to 10 years, resulting in a refined smoking experience that balances complexity with approachability.
Key Features
- Ecuadorian Habano Rosado Sungrown wrapper aged 8-10 years for exceptional smoothness and depth
- Medium to medium-full bodied profile with creamy, balanced flavor transitions
- Distinctive sweet finish with notes of cinnamon, dried fruit, nuts, and maple undertones
- Available in six vitola sizes from 44 to 60 ring gauge to suit every preference
- Exceptional construction ensuring even burn and consistent draw throughout
- Surprisingly accessible pricing for a premium aged Fuente offering
Carlos “Carlito” Fuente Jr. crafted the Magnum R series as a deliberate departure from the full-bodied trend that dominated cigar culture, instead reaching back to the medium-bodied profiles that characterized classic Dominican cigars. The exclusive Rosado wrapper leaves undergo an extensive aging process that transforms them into silky, reddish-brown sheets with a distinctive sweetness that permeates the entire smoking experience. Each cigar receives an additional year of aging after rolling, ensuring the tobaccos marry completely before release.
The flavor journey begins with pronounced notes of toasted cedar and roasted nuts, accompanied by a gentle white pepper spice that never overwhelms. As the cigar progresses, layers of leather, grain sweetness, and occasional floral notes emerge, creating the complex yet harmonious profile that has earned consistent 90+ ratings from Cigar Aficionado. The creamy texture and smooth delivery make this an ideal choice for both seasoned enthusiasts seeking refinement and newcomers exploring premium Dominican tobaccos.
Construction quality remains impeccable across all vitolas, from the compact Forty-Four to the imposing Super 60. The Dominican binder and filler tobaccos, cultivated on the Fuente family’s own plantations, provide the structural foundation for approximately one hour of smoking pleasure. The careful tobacco selection and aging process result in a cigar that burns evenly with minimal corrections required, producing a firm ash and generous smoke production that enhances the overall sensory experience.

What makes the Arturo Fuente Rosado Sungrown Magnum R special?
The Magnum R features an exclusive Ecuadorian Habano Rosado Sungrown wrapper aged for 8-10 years from lower primings, creating exceptional smoothness and complexity. This extensive aging process, combined with an additional year of post-rolling rest, produces a refined medium-bodied smoke with distinctive sweet undertones rarely found at this price point.
How long does it take to smoke a Magnum R?
Most vitolas in the Magnum R series provide approximately 60 minutes of smoking time. The smaller Vitola 44 may finish in 45-50 minutes, while larger formats like the Super 60 can extend to 75-90 minutes depending on your smoking pace.
Which Magnum R size should I choose?
The R44 receives exceptional praise for its wrapper-to-filler ratio and concentrated flavors, making it ideal for shorter sessions. The R52 and R54 offer balanced proportions suitable for most preferences. Choose the R56, R58, or Super 60 if you prefer cooler smoke and extended smoking sessions with gradual flavor development.
What flavors can I expect from this cigar?
Begin with toasted cedar, roasted nuts, and white pepper, transitioning through leather, grain sweetness, and cinnamon. The profile develops maple undertones, dried fruit notes, and occasional floral hints, finishing with concentrated cedar and spice while maintaining the characteristic Fuente sweetness throughout.
Is this suitable for beginners?
Yes, the Magnum R series offers an excellent introduction to premium aged tobaccos. The medium-bodied profile provides complexity without overwhelming strength, while the creamy texture and balanced sweetness make it approachable for developing palates seeking to explore refined Dominican cigars.
How should I store these cigars?
Store at 65-70% humidity and 65-70°F for optimal preservation. The aged wrapper benefits from stable conditions. Many enthusiasts report improved creaminess and coffee notes after additional aging of 6-12 months, though these cigars are enjoyable immediately upon purchase.
What pairs well with the Magnum R?
The sweet, nutty profile complements aged rum, bourbon, or single malt Scotch. Coffee pairings work exceptionally well, particularly medium roasts that echo the cigar’s natural sweetness. For non-alcoholic options, consider root beer or cream soda to enhance the vanilla and maple notes.
How does this compare to other Fuente lines?
The Magnum R offers more sweetness and creaminess than the standard Gran Reserva line, with less intensity than the Don Carlos series. It provides similar refinement to the Hemingway line but with a distinct Rosado wrapper character, making it unique enough to warrant inclusion alongside other Fuente favorites.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the Opus X line up. But the Rosado Sun Grown line up will always have a spot in my humidor. They get better with age. Musty oak, creamy finish, vanilla like sweetness.

This AF cigar makes me fall in love with this hobby. The flavours I picked up are very elegant and balanced. I have aged them for few years now and I can’t wait to smoke them again!

The Arturo Fuente Rosado Sungrown Magnum R delivers a refined smoking experience with smooth white pepper notes, complemented by a warm, toasty profile. Subtle hints of salt and citrus add a refreshing twist, creating a well-balanced and enjoyable flavor combination. This cigar was an absolute pleasure, and I’m excited to smoke more of them after I let them age for a bit to see what flavors get delivered next!

Fuente’s cigar is a classic, and I’ve bought it many times. I find it easier to smoke than casacuba. It has a more pronounced sweetness, a distinct grain aroma, an occasional floral scent, and a soft, non-rough smoke. It takes about 1 hour to smoke this cigar, which is suitable for relaxing after work every day. With a little whiskey, it will bring a better experience.

This is probably the winner for me of the core lines from Fuente. It always smokes well and it just has more flavor and transition than I find elsewhere in their basic portfolio. I still find it to be a little dull and earthy, but I like to age these as they get a nice creamy coffee flavor to them after a few years.

One of Fuentes finest hidden gems. Not as popular as Hemingway or Don Carlos but just as good and different enough to warrant a box buy every time.

Not a bad stick. The complexity is there and the strength is medium at best. However I wish itd come in smaller ring sizes. The one I smoked is the R54 and althought it taste great, it really is a challenge to finish.

Anything Rosado in Fuente is awesome. These are really flavorful sticks at a great price. I get those classic earthy, raisin toast flavors from this. There is also a sweet cedar note I get. When you smoke a fuente it has that distinct flavor and smoothness of properly aged tobacco. The color on this cigar is beautiful as it has that reddish hue to it. This stick was absolutely delicious and won’t hesitate to pick up another. Great smoke!l at a great price!

The smaller ring gauge is the best one out of the sizes, but the entire line is consistent

I am reviewing the R52 ergo the 4 stars. I brought the R52 to try a different vitola as I love, absolutely love the R44. R44 is the of the best cheap cigars I have had. But the R52 is no R44. The R44 is a silky while complex, balanced smoke that has a sweet finish. The R52 is just less of that and doesn’t meet the sam expectations and flavor notes as the R44. Which leads me to believe it is the Ecuador Habano wrappers that is creating that beautiful balanced flavor as there is more wrapper on the R44 than the R52. The R44 is a 5 star +. That is the one you want to try.
