Smoking Jacket Limited Edition II Gran Toro
The Smoking Jacket Limited Edition II Gran Toro takes center stage as the most complex and bold entry in the Smoking Jacket portfolio, produced in just 300 boxes by master blender Hendrik Kelner at Kelner Boutique Factory. This 6 x 54 Gran Toro showcases a rich, evolving blend anchored by an Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper, robust Nicaraguan Esteli binder, and a multi-country filler that brings together Dominican Monte Plata (Kelner farm), Dominican Piloto, USA Broadleaf, and Dominican HVA. With its limited production and artisan pedigree, this Gran Toro garners acclaim from collectors and connoisseurs eager for depth, harmonious transitions, and exceptional construction.
- Lustrous Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper: Offers visually appealing oiliness and flavor intensity
- Nicaraguan Esteli binder: Adds structure, spice, and depth to the blend’s core
- Layered filler composition: Dominican Monte Plata, Dominican Piloto, USA Broadleaf, Dominican HVA for flavor evolution and balance
- Medium-full body: Intense, cool draw with creamy, voluminous smoke and substantial progression
- Limited edition: Only 300 boxes of 10 cigars produced, making each stick a sought-after rarity
- Flavor profile: Starts with cocoa, black cherry, unsweetened coffee, and subtle leather, then transitions to cedar, roasted chestnut, nutmeg, and white pepper
- Artisan construction: Meticulous attention to consistency of draw and burn, with occasional need for light retouches
Fans and reviewers agree—while the Gran Toro is bolder and more layered than the beloved Smoking Jacket Henkie, it stands out for its brash cream, cocoa, cherry, and warming spice interplay in a balanced format. The sizable 6 x 54 vitola allows cool, steady combustion, perfect for extended sessions. Limited quantities, superior craft, and acclaimed flavor development make this a box-worthy addition to any aficionado’s humidor.

The cigars were fantastic right off the truck. Not the best smoking jacket though. Maybe after 6 months I will revisit to see if anything changes with flavor profile

This is a great cigar with great flavors. But it is not the best from Smoking Jacket, especially Kelner Boutique Factory. The flavor was a nice combination of cream and spice, but I had some burn issues that didn’t let me enjoy the cigars I would like. The Smoking Jacket Henkie, that’s the best of the line and one of the best Dominican Puros you can find.

This LE tasted very similar to the Smoking Jacket Favoritos for me. The LE Gran Toro is a bit more well rounded and milder than the Favoritos.
I thought this LE would smoke better than the Henkie blend as the Gran Toro was higher price. I ended up finding the Henkie blend being more flavorful and enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this blend. I didn’t really do any research before lighting this up, but as soon as I did I suspected I knew the blender, though I had never seen this label before. My suspicions were correct, and I am very excited to see this line expanding. What a fantastic medium bodied cigar, I can’t wait to try the rest of the line.
