Detailed Description
The Marevas represent Kyle Gellis’s most personal expression, drawing from countless hours spent among Cuba’s tobacco farmers, where simple farm rolls revealed extraordinary complexity. The rosada wrapper displays minimal veining with a subtle oil sheen that promises the richness within. Each cigar features meticulous construction including the signature cap treatment and closed foot that have become hallmarks of Gellis’s attention to traditional rolling methods.
Initial lighting through the closed foot delivers concentrated filler tobacco flavors before the wrapper joins the conversation. Early draws reveal rich leather and cedar with subtle black pepper spice that quickly transitions into creamy sweetness. The toasted marshmallow character emerges prominently in the first third, accompanied by dried fruit notes reminiscent of figs and black cherries. The retrohale carries gentle cinnamon spice with malty cereal sweetness that complements rather than overwhelms the primary profile.
Construction excellence manifests through razor-sharp burn lines and consistent ash formation that holds firm past the inch mark. The draw resistance sits perfectly in the medium range, channeling dense smoke that coats the palate with caramel and chocolate undertones. Many experienced smokers note the distinctly Cuban character, describing an elusive twang typically found only in authentic Havana productions. This quality stems from both the careful tobacco selection and the extended Spanish cedar aging that allows complete flavor integration.
The corona marevas format maximizes wrapper influence while maintaining combustion temperatures that preserve delicate flavor nuances. The final third intensifies the chocolate and dried fruit elements while maintaining balance through the lengthy finish. Total smoking time approaches 75 minutes when savored properly, with the closed foot adding several minutes of concentrated opening flavors that set the stage for the complex journey ahead.

What inspired the Gellis Series Marevas design?
Kyle Gellis drew inspiration from authentic Cuban farm rolls encountered during his time in Pinar del Río’s tobacco fields. The signature cap and closed foot construction honor these traditional campo cigars while the Spanish cedar aging protocol adds refinement to the rustic concept.
How does the closed foot affect flavor development?
The closed foot concentrates pure filler tobacco flavors in the opening draws before the wrapper gradually emerges. This construction creates a distinctive progression where initial earthiness and spice transition into the wrapper’s creamy sweetness and complexity.
What distinguishes this from other corona offerings?
The combination of twelve-month Spanish cedar aging, rosada wrapper selection, and Cuban-inspired construction creates an unusually complex corona. Many experienced smokers identify a Cuban twang rarely found in New World productions.
Does the Marevas benefit from additional aging?
While exceptional fresh, many collectors report enhanced integration after 3-6 months of proper humidor storage. The dried fruit notes become more pronounced while the pepper elements mellow into the background.
What makes the smoking experience unique?
The progression from concentrated filler flavors through the closed foot into the wrapper’s marshmallow and caramel sweetness creates exceptional complexity. The lengthy finish and Cuban-style character distinguish this from typical Dominican productions.
How does draw resistance compare to other coronas?
The draw sits perfectly in the medium range, delivering dense smoke production without requiring excessive effort. The construction quality ensures consistent performance throughout without touch-ups or corrections.
What pairing recommendations work best?
Morning coffee accentuates the chocolate and caramel notes while afternoon sessions pair excellently with aged rum or cognac. The medium strength allows enjoyment at any time without overwhelming the palate.
Why choose the marevas vitola format?
This classic 43 ring gauge concentrates flavors while maintaining comfortable mouth feel and cooler combustion. The format maximizes wrapper influence while allowing complete flavor expression through the extended 75-minute smoking time.

Was super excited to try this. Love the corona vitola. The first third on this stick unfortunately did not wow me. Even with the closed foot to get the party kicked off it still gave me flavors albeit muddled. I got cedar, slight crushed red pepper and some light brown sugar sweetness from the wrapper. The final two thirds of the star was the star and saved the 5 star rating here. I got heavy notes of dried black cherry and fig jam. The cedar was still present and the cigar was incredible to the knub. Construction was great, even after I accidentally knocked it out of the ash tray within mins of light up. The wrapper did not crack and it just powered through. Great draw and burn. I bought one and see a 5-pack in my not so distant future.

I like this size a lot. The first one I smoked had good flavor, some spice, raisin/fig sweetness, pepper, chocolate and a touch of leather. It burned well, and if I had one sticking point it was that the draw was a little too tight for my liking. Still glad I grabbed a five pack, I look forward to smoking it again.

First, Oxford gets five stars for prompt delivery and excellent packaging. As for the smoke, this was my first warped cigar, and I was extremely impressed. Marevas size, I usually don’t smoke smaller ring gauge, but the mouth feel was surprisingly pleasant. Construction was great, no touch ups or relights needed. I know the term “Cubanesque” gets thrown around a bit but legitimately this is the most Cuban tasting New World cigar I’ve personally ever had. It just had that twang that I can’t find in anything but a Cuban. I smoked this right out of the Oxford pack and three days earlier I had had a Cohiba maduro 5, and the smoke took me right back to where I was when smoking that stick. Those who know the twang know what I mean and this is the closest I found to that experience. Obviously, I’d take the maduro five over this but price obtainability and legitimacy are some real factors that you don’t have to worry about in getting this stick from here. The only setback I had in the entire smoke was it did run fairly hot towards the end of the final third. You wanna nub it, but you really don’t wanna. Try a sample and you will probably agree, box worthy.

These marevas are absolute fire. Cinnamon, hint of leather, caramel, chocolate and very faint pepper. This is a box worthy stick all day. The vitola is right up my alley too.

I really enjoyed this cigar. A pleasant mix of woody tones and pecan nuts with a sharp cedar edge. There was mild black coffee bitterness on the follow and malt/cereal sweetness on the retrohale. The slim corona vitola was the perfect size to enjoy with a morning mug of coffee. Definitely plan to keep a supply of these on hand.

Firstly, I love the size 5 1/8×43 and Rosada color wrapper. I certainly did indulge the notes of: smooth leather, sweetness dried fruit, caramel and chocolate. The finish is long and abundant. Another great Warped cigar that is box worthy.

The Warped Gellis Series Marevas impressed me with its richness and complexity.
The initial draw brought notes of chocolate and black pepper that lingered on the palate. Some creaminess balanced out the pepper and introduced hints of sweetness. Subtle touches of leather and caramel added depth to the experience.
The construction was excellent, with a consistent burn and a long-lasting, satisfying finish. Overall a well-rounded smoke that delivers.
