George Rico Appointed to the PCA Board of Directors

Last week, Max Bichler resigned from his position at Rocky Patel Premium Cigars and his recently announced position on the PCA Board of Directors. With Bitchler’s resignation, the Premium Cigar Association (PCA) is announcing the appointment of George Rico of Gran Habano to fill Bichler’s position as an associate member on the PCA Board of Directors.

Todd Naifeh, President of the PCA Board of Directors, says, “George brings a deep experience of the industry with him and has been working with the board already on several projects. He will be a great addition to the team.”

“George is always willing to step up and do more for the organization and will push forth new ideas. He will be a great compliment to our existing associate members on the board. I am confident that his ideas will have a lasting impact on the association and industry,” says Joshua Habursky, Executive Director of the Premium Cigar Association.

Per the association by-laws, the current Board of Directors had the duty to appoint a good-standing member to fill the role. Based on his experience, service on PCA committees, and overall participation and support for the Premium Cigar Association, the Board of Directors selected George Rico of Gran Habano to serve the remainder of the 3-year term from 2025 to 2028.

“I would like to thank the Board for their confidence in me today and for this great opportunity! I look forward to working with the PCA Board and all of PCA’s members to explore new ideas that will help our treasured industry thrive and grow in the coming years,” commented Rico.

Originally from Medellín, Colombia, George Rico has been working in the cigar industry for over 28 years and is the founder, along with his father, Guillermo Rico, of Gran Habano Cigars.

The PCA previously announced other newly elected members of the PCA Board of Directors during the PCA25 trade show in New Orleans. These new board members included Kathleen Kelly (Queensbury Cigar and Pipe), Tony Goins (Capital Cigar Lounge), Jeff Greiner (Classic Cigars & Lounge), John Higgins (Spring Street Cigars), and Michael Herklots (Ferio Tego).

The PCA would like to thank Max Bichler for his contributions to the premium cigar industry and the association and wish him well in his future endeavors.
