Detailed Description
Launched in 2014, the Las Calaveras series stands as one of the most anticipated and meaningful releases in the premium cigar calendar. Each year, Crowned Heads honors loved ones lost with a blend that is not just a solemn reflection, but a vibrant celebration of life’s journey and the eternal cycle. The 2022 edition marks a new chapter as it is the first to feature a robust Nicaraguan Corojo ’99 wrapper leaf, enhancing the blend with further richness and bold character.
The muscular but controlled profile delivers classic ‘My Father’ signatures—intense tobacco core, layered spice, and unyielding structure—with the unique sweetness and aroma that define Corojo ’99. Beneath the wrapper, the all-Nicaraguan binder and filler provide a strong, complex backbone that satisfies seasoned palates while maintaining balance and sophistication.
Each 24-count box is artfully divided into three rows, corresponding to the stages of life: beginning, middle, and end. In both biblical and mathematical symbology, the arrangement represents notions of infinity, renewal, and enduring memory—deepening the blend’s emotional and cultural resonance. In total, only 1,500 boxes of each of the three sizes were released, with an additional 2,500 sampler boxes crafted for collectors, featuring an exclusive petite lancero vitola.

Just reordered another one. Fantastic smoke. Notes of coco, coffee and natural tobaccco. Excellent draw with decent burn. Would recommend to a more experienced smoker due to the nuanced flavors this stick has. Overall a 8.9 out of 10.

Classic CH. Espresso and pepper. Lots of smoke production. A bit of age will do these well, but they’re good to smoke now too.

Crowned Heads Las Calaveras El 2022, I have not tried previous releases. This smoke was heavy spice-forward and a bit too full-bodied for me. You will definitely notice transitions throughout the smoke.

Fantastic annual release from CH. This year’s comes out of the My Father factory in Nicaragua, so if you’re a fan of the Garcia’s tobacco, this one does not disappoint. Lots of coffee and cedar notes on the light, and then has light leather notes throughout. I’ve tried all three vitolas and the LC46 one seems to have the most flavor balance of the three.
