- Ecuadorian Connecticut Desflorada wrapper provides silky texture and refined sweetness
- Year-long Spanish cedar aging integrates flavors for exceptional smoothness
- Corona gorda format offers 45-minute smoke perfect for midday enjoyment
- Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers create layered complexity without overwhelming strength
- Tabacalera La iSLA production ensures consistent construction quality
- 12-count boxes maintain freshness with Boveda humidification during shipping
The Saunter emerges from Kyle Gellis’s expanding portfolio as a study in restraint and refinement. The Ecuadorian Connecticut Desflorada wrapper, a variation of traditional Connecticut Shade grown under cheesecloth, presents a golden-brown appearance with minimal veining. This delicate leaf requires careful handling during production, explaining the meticulous attention evident in each cigar’s construction. The year spent aging in Spanish cedar warehouses allows the diverse tobacco components to harmonize, creating a profile that evolves gracefully through each third.
On the palate, the Saunter opens with pronounced cream and honey notes, establishing its medium-bodied character immediately. The Nicaraguan component contributes subtle white pepper on the retrohale, while Dominican tobacco adds natural sweetness that manifests as caramel undertones. Fruit notes appear intermittently, particularly stone fruit suggestions that complement the honey sweetness. Cedar from the aging process weaves throughout, providing structure without dominating the blend’s inherent sweetness.
Tabacalera La iSLA’s expertise shines through the Saunter’s construction. Each cigar displays consistent pack density, ensuring even burn lines and steady smoke production. The 48 ring gauge provides comfortable grip while the 5.25-inch length creates an ideal wrapper-to-filler ratio for this particular blend. Draw resistance sits perfectly calibrated, neither too tight nor loose, allowing full expression of the tobacco’s nuanced character. The white ash holds firmly for inch-long segments, indicating quality leaf selection and proper fermentation.

The Saunter is a sweet and savory smoke buttressed with almond and a long finish. This is a unique profile for Warped and worth a box purchase.

What a great morning cigar to pair with a cup of coffee! I got to enjoy one while I was on the course in Hawaii a few weeks back – very mild and smooth smoke! Love the band as well!

I thought this was a terrific cigar. Starts with a good bit of cedar tartness with a little hay in the background. The cedar is balanced by honey sweetness (one reviewer called it honeysuckle, and I don’t disagree) which fades into a distinct graham cracker aroma in the last third. Also a little pepper toward the end. A very flavorful cigar that is well worth a try, if not a whole box.

Strong notes of honey on this stick with a sweet sweet cedar great stick. Age will do great things to this stick. A small amount of cinnamon on retro. Very light pepper almost nonexistent.

Good not great. Could just be me but it seems Kyle is just pumping out a ton of new stuff that isn’t really too far from other releases in terms of flavor. For the price I’d argue bird on a rose is a better stick than this one.
