A Bold New Chapter in Dominican Power
The La Flor Dominicana Chapter One is a landmark cigar, marking the debut blend from Antonio Gomez, son of the legendary Litto Gomez. This smoke is not just a cigar; it’s the beginning of a new legacy, embodied in a powerful and uniquely shaped vitola. The Chapter One introduces the first-ever box-pressed version of LFD’s patented Chisel shape, a hefty 6.5 x 58 torpedo that is both visually striking and ergonomically brilliant. Crafted for the experienced smoker, this cigar is a testament to the Gomez family’s commitment to bold, innovative, and powerful blends.
This full-bodied masterpiece is constructed with some of the most robust tobaccos in the LFD arsenal. The wrapper is a dark, oily, and toothy Brazilian Ligero Oscuro leaf, taken from a high priming to maximize its strength and rich flavor. Beneath this stunning wrapper lies a potent Connecticut Broadleaf binder and a core of powerful Dominican Ligero fillers grown on the family’s renowned La Canela farm. The combination is a full-throttle experience designed to deliver uncompromising strength and complexity.
A Symphony of Spice, Earth, and Sweetness
From the first puff, the Chapter One announces its presence with a blast of spice and pepper. This initial intensity gracefully transitions into a complex and evolving flavor profile. Deep notes of dark chocolate, espresso, molasses, and rich earth form the foundation, creating a profound and satisfying core. As the smoke progresses, subtle layers of leather, cedar, and dried fruit emerge, adding nuance and depth. The finish is long and powerful, with lingering notes of spice and dark-roast coffee, making the Chapter One a truly memorable and rewarding smoke for those who appreciate full-bodied cigars.

It is unexpectedly smooth after lighting, with a very thick, rich, and strong bean aroma. The main line is nutty and bean aroma, with a slight woody aroma, a slightly smooth feeling of chocolate, average strength, medium to high intensity, average combustion, and ok structure. The roll is very tight, the inhalation resistance is just right, and it feels very powerful when held in the hand. The chisel narrowing at the end of the tail makes good use of the smoke concentration property, and a lot of impurities are covered under the blessing of the powerful main line.

I go back and for with this and the Capitulo II, they’re both excellent. This one is a little more aggressive in term of nicotine content, and equally full in body and flavor. Sometimes I find Brazilian wrapper to be unappealing, but when they’re done right they can really elevate a cigar, which is the case with this. I love that you get so much cigar out of this for a price that is more than reasonable.
