Detailed Description
The Oro Line exemplifies Stefan Lampert’s philosophy of creating personalized cigar experiences through meticulous tobacco selection and aging. Each cigar features an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper that undergoes two years of aging, developing a creamy texture and subtle sweetness that Connecticut lovers appreciate. The Ecuadorian Habano 2000 binder, aged for three years, provides structural integrity while contributing earthy undertones that complement the wrapper’s delicate nature.
The filler blend showcases Lampert’s commitment to complexity, combining three-year aged Dominican tobacco with five-year aged Peruvian Pelo d’Oro, plus additional Nicaraguan leaf depending on the vitola. This multi-national approach creates layers of flavor that evolve throughout the smoking experience. The Peruvian Pelo d’Oro particularly adds a distinctive richness and slight spice that elevates the blend beyond typical Connecticut offerings.
Initial flavors present grassy, white tea-like notes with subtle spice, quickly developing into creamy cashew and toasted bread profiles. The progression reveals woody cedar, Italian basil nuances, and a buttery leather character that coats the palate. Reviewers consistently note the exceptional creaminess, describing it as luxurious and well worth the premium price point. The finish brings perfectly roasted aromas with hints of pesto, vanilla, and leather that linger pleasantly between draws.
Construction quality reflects the expertise of Tabacos de Costa Rica, the same factory producing other premium brands like Alfonso, Atabey, and Casdagli. Each cigar exhibits flawless construction with even burns, solid ash formation, and draws that open beautifully after initial tightness. The generous smoke production creates thick, aromatic clouds that enhance the sensory experience while maintaining smoothness even through the final third.

What makes the Lampert Oro Line special?
The Oro Line stands apart through its use of five-year aged Peruvian Pelo d’Oro filler tobacco, creating exceptional complexity rarely found in Connecticut-wrapped cigars. Combined with production at the prestigious Tabacos de Costa Rica factory, these cigars deliver luxurious creaminess and sophisticated flavor transitions that justify their premium positioning.
How does the Oro Line compare to other Connecticut cigars?
While maintaining the approachable nature of Connecticut wrappers, the Oro Line offers significantly more complexity than typical mild cigars. The multi-country filler blend and extended aging create depth comparable to medium-bodied offerings, with reviewers noting buttery leather, basil, and pesto notes uncommon in the category.
Which Oro Line vitola should I choose?
The El Gringo robusto (5×50) provides the classic 60-minute experience, while the Don Patron toro (6×52) extends smoking time to 90 minutes with enhanced flavor development. The Gatsby torpedo offers concentrated flavors through its tapered head, and the new Kingpin double perfecto delivers over an hour of smoking despite its 4-inch length.
What flavor progression can I expect?
The first third opens with grassy, white tea notes alongside subtle spice and cashew nuttiness. The middle section introduces creamy leather, toasted bread, and cedar with Italian basil undertones. The final third intensifies roasted flavors while maintaining buttery smoothness, with vanilla and leather lingering on the finish.
Is the Oro Line suitable for beginners?
Yes, the mild to medium strength makes it approachable for newer smokers, while the complexity satisfies experienced palates. The exceptional smoothness and creamy profile provide an ideal introduction to premium boutique cigars without overwhelming nicotine strength.
How should I store Lampert Oro Line cigars?
Store at 65-70% humidity and 65-70°F temperature. The Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper benefits from stable conditions, and additional aging can enhance the already smooth profile. Handle carefully, as Connecticut wrappers are more delicate than maduro options.
What makes Tabacos de Costa Rica special for production?
Located in Santiago De Puriscal’s mountains, Tabacos de Costa Rica produces ultra-premium brands including Alfonso, Atabey, Casdagli, and El Septimo. The factory’s reputation for flawless construction and quality control ensures each Oro Line cigar meets exceptional standards.
Where can I purchase Lampert Oro Line cigars?
Available through authorized Lampert retailers, including Oxford Cigar Company, Small Batch Cigar, and select premium tobacconists. The updated packaging in 10-count boxes began shipping in 2023, with consistent availability for most vitolas through established boutique cigar channels.

Small cigar but took about 1 hrs and 10 minutes as I am a slow smoker. A lot of nuttyness, woodsy with a lot of smoke out put. Not a robust cigar as far as power but a good morning or day cigar.

One of my favorite sticks, made at the same factory as Atabey/Byron/Alfonso. Lots of transitions, very creamy, an outstanding connecticut. Very reasonably priced too!

This cigar is for the Connecticut lovers! Light but very complex. Salt, cashew, pepper, hay, cedar, and I’ll get this subtle caramel note at the finish. 5 pack to a box worthy cigar.

This cigar smokes so well and is delicious. Ready to smoke another as soon as I finished the cigar. Balanced and complex. Creamy but still has zest to keep it interesting.

Lampert Oro Don Patron toro 6×52. A very good, mild cigar. The burn was nearly flawless and required only a couple of minor touch up lights to even the burn line. Plenty of smoke and a draw that was initially a little tight, but opened up nicely. It started off with a very mild creamy pepper and baked bread profile and moved onto lightly salted cashews. There were some slight floral notes, but you had to look for them. The profile then moved on to wood, some tannins and, finally at the end, a little leather. Very smooth and enjoyable all the way through. If you’re looking for a mild cigar that still offers some interesting flavors and complexity, give this one a try. Smoking time was about 1 hour and 45 minutes.

I bought into the hype a little bit with this one. While it was a pleasant smoke(cream, cedar) particularly with coffee…it didn’t blow me away as I had hoped. Overall, a nice smoke and worth a try. 8/10.

Flawless construction, lots of flavor, and not so much nicotine, just how I like it. I used to avoid Connecticut wrapper cigars because they were very mild but this is different. All the stuff that is coming from Costa Rica (Alfonso, Atabey, Casdagli, El Septimo, Bandoleros) is impressive.

My first Lampert. Purchased after being highly recommended. Very good cigar. Slightly spicy but smooth. I would say medium in strength with woody/creamy flavors. I will be purchasing again.

This cigar is absolutely delicious. Waitlisted and ready to grab a box or two when they’re back in stock. I’d say do the same, you won’t be disappointed.

One of my favorite cigars! I’d say more medium than mild. The Ecuadorian, Nicaraguan, Dominican, and Peruvian tobacco in this blend hits just right with a bit of nuttiness and spice. I’m still smoking through my OG box, but I’m really excited about Lambert’s rebranding to the new 10ct boxes. This cigar is a must have in every humidor. It is in mine.

Lampert Don Patron, This is an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper is very good that hits mid-field with the rest of the Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper out there. The strength is slightly below Medium and you definitely get tasting notes of grassy (for me this tasted more like white tea), cedar that was on the mild spicy and nutty finish.
