Detailed Description
The New World Puro Especial represents a profound expression of Nicaragua’s Estelí region, where AJ Fernandez has strategically cultivated distinct tobacco varieties across multiple farms. Each farm contributes unique characteristics: the San Diego farm provides exceptional mineral qualities from its distinctive soil, while La Soledad yields tobacco with incredible flavor complexity. The La Providencia farm contributes an amazing aromatic profile, and the San José farm produces the rich, beautiful Criollo ’98 wrapper that has been carefully nurtured over many years.
This sophisticated blend delivers an engaging medium to full-bodied experience that unfolds with layers of flavor. Initial notes of roasted almonds and dried fruits greet the palate, followed by sweet caramel undertones that balance the natural earthiness. As the smoke progresses, subtle hints of cocoa, leather, and hickory emerge, accompanied by a pleasant pepper spice that adds dimension without overwhelming the blend’s inherent sweetness.
The collaboration between AJ and his father Ismael brings together traditional Cuban heritage with modern Nicaraguan innovation. Every leaf has been aged between three and five years, ensuring optimal maturation that translates to exceptional smoothness and complexity. This patient approach to aging allows the diverse tobaccos from each farm to marry perfectly, creating a harmonious profile that evolves throughout the smoking experience.
Available in four popular sizes including Robusto, Toro, Short Churchill, and Gordo formats, this versatile line offers options for various occasions and time commitments. The construction quality reflects the meticulous attention to detail at Tabacalera A.J. Fernandez, delivering consistent draw, even burn, and impressive ash formation that exemplifies premium Nicaraguan craftsmanship.

Solid smoke. Real dark robust flavors. Oak, charred meat and black coffee. I do get some leather and black pepper with this as well. To me this is surely Full strength and body. Construction on this was nice. Nice easy draw and great smoke production. I’ve had other wrappers in this line and prefer the Connecticut and maduro over this. This has just a little more rough edges than I like. Great price!

It’s ok,, but I found the smoke dried out my palate alot. Still a good price, but I’ll stick to the maduro in this line.
