The highlight of the trade show for the Cigar Journal team was certainly the presentation of the certificate to Ernesto Peréz Carrillo and his team for the E.P. CARRILLO ALLEGIANCE CONFIDANT.
Son Ernie shows us the latest creation from E.P.C. Cigars: the E.P. Carrillo Sumatra. It marks the start of the Essence Series, for which six blends are planned over the next two years.
“We wanted to create a medium-bodied cigar of high quality at a good price. I think we have succeeded and we are excited about it.”
Nomen est omen: the E.P. Carrillo Sumatra has an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. Under the wrapper are two binder leaves, one from Nicaragua and one from Honduras. The filler tobaccos come from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic.
The cigar is launched in three vitolas: Robusto, Toro and Gordo. The products are expected to ship in late May.
