Oliva Cigars is a world-renowned cigar brand whose tobacco legacy dates back to 1886, when Melanio Oliva first began cultivating tobacco in Pinar del Río, Cuba. After generations of perseverance through war, revolution, and exile, Gilberto Oliva Sr. founded the modern Oliva brand in 1995 in Nicaragua, where the family had been farming tobacco since 1969. All Oliva cigars are handcrafted at the company’s factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, using proprietary Nicaraguan tobaccos grown across the Estelí, Condega, and Jalapa Valley regions. The flagship Oliva Serie V features an Ecuadorian Habano Sun Grown wrapper over Nicaraguan Jalapa binder and specially fermented ligero fillers, delivering a full-bodied smoke rich with earth, leather, pepper, and creamy cocoa. The Oliva Serie V Melanio—named in honor of the family patriarch—earned Cigar Aficionado’s #1 Cigar of the Year in 2014, showcasing refined notes of coffee bean, caramel, and wood.
