601 Cigars is a premium Nicaraguan brand created in 2004 by Erik Espinosa and Eddie Ortega under their EO Brands partnership, with the name commemorating June 1st—the date of Erik’s first trip to Nicaragua. Originally manufactured by Don Pepín García at Tabacalera My Father Cigars, 601 quickly became a hit and later moved production to Erik’s own La Zona factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, and eventually to AJ Fernandez’s San Lotano factory in Ocotál for access to more abundantly aged tobaccos.
