IGM Cigars (Inversiones González Martínez) is a family-owned boutique cigar company with deep Cuban roots, established over 25 years ago in San José, Costa Rica, by the Ferrer family—heirs to a rich tobacco legacy from mid-20th century Cuba who relocated to Costa Rica in 1997. Led by Cuban agricultural engineer José González Ferrer, IGM grows proprietary tobacco on its own farm in Santa Marta de Puriscal at over 3,000 feet above sea level, where volcanic soil and a unique microclimate produce truly rare and distinctive leaf. All IGM cigars are handcrafted at the company’s boutique factory in Rohrmoser, San José, using traditional Cuban methods alongside premium tobaccos from Costa Rica, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Peru, and Ecuador.
